Area-selective deposition (ASD) based on self-aligned technology has emerged as a promising solution for resolving misalignment issues during ultrafine patterning processes. Despite its potential, the problems of area-selectivity losing beyond a certain thickness remain critical in ASD applications. This study reports a novel approach to sustain the area-selectivity of Ir films as the thickness increases.

In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics of and prognostic factors in patients with DFO undergoing amputation.
Methods: This retrospective study involved 101 patients with DFO who underwent amputation.
Background: Recurrent simple febrile seizure (SFS) refers to febrile seizure (FS) that recurs within 24 hours. Patients with recurrent SFS often undergo unnecessary neurodiagnostic tests. To address this, we compared the clinical characteristics of recurrent SFS with those of SFS and investigated the risk factors associated with recurrent SFS.

However, concerns about psychiatric and behavioral adverse events (PBAEs) in combination therapy with levetiracetam (LEV) continue to contribute to hesitation in its prescription. We investigated the risk profiles for PBAEs when adding PER to pediatric epilepsy treatment and analyzed the differences according to the presence of concomitant LEV.

Nevertheless, porous structures are affected by issues, including restricted enhancements in performance attributed to decreased electronic conductivity and degraded mechanical strength. This study introduces an innovative strategy for overcoming these challenges using porous BiSbTe (BST) by combining porous structuring and interface engineering via atomic layer deposition (ALD).

Here, we provide the first and the largest comprehensive analysis of clinical and genetic characteristics, and genotype-phenotype correlations of KD in Korean in comparison with other ethnic groups. From June 2010 to June 2023, 10 patients were diagnosed with KD through sequencing of GALC.

We have previously discovered "atypical" dopamine transporter (DAT) inhibitors that do not display psychostimulant-like behaviors and may be useful as medications to treat PSUD. Lead candidates (e.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAtypical dopamine transporter (DAT) inhibitors have shown therapeutic potential in the preclinical models of psychostimulant use disorders (PSUD). In rats, 1-(4-(2-((bis(4-fluorophenyl)methyl)sulfinyl)ethyl)-piperazin-1-yl)-propan-2-ol () was effective in reducing the reinforcing effects of both cocaine and methamphetamine but did not exhibit psychostimulant behaviors itself. Improvements in DAT affinity and metabolic stability were desirable for discovering pipeline drug candidates.

This study investigated the initial growth of ALD Ir films using tricarbonyl-(1,2,3-η)-1,2,3-tri(-butyl)-cyclopropenyl-iridium and O. Isolated Ir nanoparticles were formed on the oxide surfaces during the initial growth stage, and their density and size were significantly influenced by the growth temperature and substrate surface, which strongly affected the precursor adsorption and surface diffusion of the adatoms.

Primary suturing is possible if the injury is acute, but if the tear is chronic, tendon contracture causes the space between the edges of the tear to widen, disrupting the end-to-end connection. In particular, a claw toe or checkrein foot deformity may develop over time due to adhesion of the lower leg tendons near the fracture site or scar.

It is hypothesized that some probiotics may slow the progression of liver fibrosis. In human stool analysis [healthy group (n = 44) and cirrhosis group (n = 18)], difference in Lactobacillus genus between healthy group and cirrhosis group was observed.

The aim of the study was to investigate the active metabolites and mechanisms of gut microbiota against NAFLD by network pharmacology. We obtained a total of 208 metabolites from the gutMgene database and retrieved 1256 targets from similarity ensemble approach (SEA) and 947 targets from the SwissTargetPrediction (STP) database.

Epitaxial β-GaO thin films possess a biaxial compressive strain on YSZ single-crystal substrates while they exhibit a biaxial tensile strain on YSZ-buffered Si substrates. Post-annealing improves the crystalline quality of β-GaO thin films.

This single-center retrospective observational study included adult patients with pneumonia admitted to the ICU through the ED between January and December 2019 (pre-pandemic) and between March 2020 and February 2021 (during-pandemic). We compared and analyzed the EDLOS by dividing it into pre-, mid-, and post-EDLOS and in-hospital mortality of patients with pneumonia admitted to the ICU according to the time of ED visits before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The distinctive electronic structures of CDs lead to the characteristic optical transitions, such as three colors of blue, green, and red, which are primarily attributed to the difference in configurations, despite the similar basic structures of conjugated systems. The excitation-independent emission and the single exponential decay of CDs indicate the single chromophore-like nature in each type of CD.

Personalized diet patterns chronically affect the composition and activity of microbiota in the human gut; consequently, nutrition-related dysbiosis exacerbates NAFLD via the gut-liver axis. Recent advances in diagnostic technology for gut microbes and microbiota-derived metabolites have led to advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of NAFLD.

Methods: Between 2017 and 2020, the bone graft pedicled with the tibialis anterior muscle was applied for the treatment of 11 patients with a cortical defect and nonunion of the tibia due to trauma and one patient with segmental bone defect caused by tramatic osteomyelitis. The tibialis anterior has the largest muscle belly, but has not been commonly used due to functional disability following use as transposition muscle flap.
Objective: To evaluate clinical and radiological outcomes including hindfoot alignment after plate vs intramedullary nailing (IMN) for distal tibia fracture and to define radiologic parameters that influence changes in hindfoot alignment.
Methods: Among 92 patients with distal tibia metaphyseal fractures treated from 2002 to 2015, 39 cases of intramedullary nailing and 53 cases of standard plate osteosynthesis were performed. Union rate and complication rate were compared in both groups.

Although various outcomes of the sinus tarsi approach have been reported, these are limited to the Sanders type 2 displaced intraarticular calcaneal fractures (DIACF) because of the limited visibility of the posterior facet joint. In this study we aimed to (1) introduce a sinus tarsi approach combined with an anterolateral fragment open-door technique that enables adequate visibility of the innermost and middle portion of the posterior facet joint, and (2) evaluate the radiographic and clinical outcomes of the patients treated with that technique. This is a retrospective case-series study performed on medical records of 25 patients who presented with the Sanders type 3 or 4 DIACF and were treated with the sinus tarsi approach.
