Purpose: Subacromial impingement is a painful shoulder disorder, which may be common after breast cancer treatment. A previous study showed a high prevalence after mastectomy but prevalence after conservatively treated patients is unknown. Impingement mechanisms in breast cancer survivors have not been studied.

The PM muscle regions likely respond differently to stretch, but this has never been shown in vivo. We used shear wave elastography to assess the stretch response of different PM muscle regions during shoulder abduction and external rotation in 20 healthy male participants.

Changes in pectoralis major stiffness and thickness following radiotherapy for breast cancer: A 12-month follow-up case series.

Radiotherapy (RT) is a common and often essential treatment for breast cancer, but has been associated with pectoralis major (PM) muscle fibrosis and atrophy. In an initial prospective evaluation, we assessed muscle stiffness and muscle thickness of the sternocostal and clavicular regions of the PM with ultrasound shear wave elastography and B-mode imaging. Changes in PM muscle stiffness and thickness following RT can be detected within the first twelve months of RT completion.

Efficacy of Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty on Circadian Intraocular Pressure Following Trabeculectomy in Advanced Primary Open-angle Glaucoma.

Prcis: In about 50% of post-trabeculectomy (TE) eyes, selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) is effective in further lowering intraocular pressure (IOP).

Purpose: To investigate the efficacy and safety of SLT in post-TE eyes, uncontrolled on maximum tolerated medication, and/or with progression of visual field loss.

Patients And Methods: This retrospective study consecutively included post-TE eyes of patients diagnosed with primary open-angle glaucoma who had been treated with 360 degrees SLT and had a follow-up after 12 months.

Purpose: Resistant dextrin (RD) supplementation has been shown to alter satiety, glycaemia, and body weight, in overweight Chinese men; however, there are limited data on its effects in other demographic groups. Here, we investigated the effects of RD on satiety in healthy adults living in the United Kingdom.

Methods: 20 normal weight and 16 overweight adults completed this randomised controlled cross-over study.

Background: Although occupational therapy (OT) is frequently prescribed in clinical practice, there is still insufficient evidence regarding its efficacy to improve Parkinson's Disease (PD)-related activity limitations.

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of OT and the validity of different outcome-parameters to reflect efficacy, including gold-standard clinical rating scales and quantitative motor assessments.

Methods: 40 patients were included in an exploratory, randomized-controlled, single-blinded trial, receiving either (I) ten weeks of OT, with a main focus on motor aspects of activity limitations and a ten-week follow-up assessment or (II) no intervention.

Background: Cannabis is one of the most abused drugs worldwide, with more than 20 million users in the United States (US). As access to cannabis products increases with expanding US legislation and decriminalization of marijuana, emergency physicians must be adept in recognizing unintentional cannabis toxicity in young children, which can range from altered mental status to encephalopathy and coma.

Diatoms are unicellular algae of crucial importance as they belong to the main primary producers in aquatic ecosystems. Several diatom species produce polyunsaturated aldehydes (PUAs) that have been made responsible for chemically mediated interactions in the plankton. PUA-effects include chemical defense by reducing the reproductive success of grazing copepods, allelochemical activity by interfering with the growth of competing phytoplankton and cell to cell signaling.

Imaging large vessel vasculitis with fully integrated PET/MRI: a pilot study.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of hybrid [(18)F]fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/MRI in patients with large vessel vasculitis (LVV) by comparing visual and quantitative parameters to that of PET/CT. Furthermore, the value of PET/MRI in disease activity and extent of LVV was assessed.

Methods: A total of 16 [(18)F]FDG PET/MRI and 12 [(18)F]-FDG PET/CT examinations were performed in 12 patients with LVV.

Methods: Risk factors, etiology and outcome of fungaemia between two periods (1989-1998 vs. 2005-2011) were compared and risk factors for death assessed by univariate analysis (CDC 2006 Statistical Package).
