CuInS grown under copper-rich conditions shows high optical quality but faces poor solar cell performance due to charge carrier recombination at the buffer/CuInS interface.
The study uses different spectroscopic techniques and electrical analysis to identify the interface recombination issues in Zn(O,S)/CuInS devices.
The findings suggest that while energy-level alignment isn't the main problem, defects near the interface are likely causing the performance-limiting recombination.
