Regarding the present results and the review of literature, we are of the opinion that negative attitude towards lymphography is not justified. In diagnostic procedure, priority is given to sonography and computed tomography because of their non-invasiveness. Lymphography is indispensable in all cases where sonography or computed tomography show negative findings and where the therapy planning depends on evidence or exclusion of retroperitoneal lymphomas.

Spinal Ewing's sarcomas are rare and cause problems in differential diagnosis. The radiologic, nuclear medicine and CT findings in two children with histologically proven Ewing's sarcoma are presented and problems in differential diagnosis discussed. Biopsy should be done early.

The safety and fibrinolytic efficacy of a new anisoylated plasminogen-streptokinase activator complex (APSAC) was tested in 50 patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) less than 4 hours in duration. APSAC (30 mg) was given intravenously as a bolus injection 151 +/- 47 minutes after clinical symptoms. Coronary angiography was then performed to assess coronary artery patency: 28 patients had an inferior AMI and 22 an anterior AMI.

Autopsy findings in a 39-year-old male gorilla included aortic dissection, internal rupture of the aortic arch with axial direction of the tear, external rupture of the ascending aorta, cardiac tamponade, myocardial hypertrophy, cystic and basophilic degeneration of the aortic media, marked obesity, severe degenerative joint disease, focal glomerulonephritis, and widespread hemosiderosis.

Two sibling mandrills with clinical evidence of lead intoxication showed previously unreported hepatic alterations. The younger animal had high lead concentrations in blood, kidneys, and liver and characteristic intranuclear inclusions in renal tubules and hepatocytes. The liver showed diffuse nodular regenerative hyperplasia.

A massive tumor embolism was observed in a 35-year-old patient suffering from a tumor of the urinary bladder. Pulmonary embolism was suspected after echocardiographic demonstration of an acute cor pulmonale. Postmortem examination demonstrated multiple small tumor emboli within the small pulmonary arteries.

Groups of 50 normal kindergarten and 50 first-grade children were examined three times at six-month intervals on the extended neuromotor examination for children, as well as on measures of reading achievement and language performance. The joint effect of five neuromotor measures accounted for a substantial percentage of variance in reading achievement and language performance 12 months later. As a global measure, neuromotor status therefore may constitute a reliable, independent criterion of developmental age for psychological investigations of young, normal children.

The value of echo-cardiography, CT and magnetic resonance tomography was evaluated in 10 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Echocardiography made the diagnosis in most cases. The diagnostic criteria depended on functional and morphological changes.

The scope and limitations of quantitative cardiac CT have been evaluated in a series of experimental and clinical studies. The left ventricular muscle mass was estimated by computed tomography in 19 dogs (using volumetric methods, measurements in two axes and planes and reference volume). There was good correlation with anatomical findings.

Thanks to computed tomography the diagnostics of Hodgkin's disease has improved for both the nodal and the extranodal affection. CT is of special importance to determine an extension along the thoracic wall and to assess a pericardial and vascular invasion. All lymph node groups are visualized by computed tomography, but the structure of the lymph nodes cannot be assessed.

Complexes of potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTV) with nuclear proteins have been studied by in vitro reconstitution of the complexes and by isolation and characterization of in vivo complexes under non-dissociating conditions. For in vitro reconstitution, nuclear proteins were separated by SDS-gel-electrophoresis, renatured and blotted onto nitrocellulose filters, and incubated with viroid. The viroid-protein complexes were crosslinked covalently, and the viroid containing protein bands were detected by northern hybridization with a radioactive cDNA probe.
