The presence of various pesticides in natural streams and wastewater is a significant environmental issue due to their high toxicity, which causes harmful consequences even at low quantities. One cost-effective method to remove these pollutants from water could be through adsorption using an inexpensive, easily obtained adsorbent-biochar. The presented research demonstrates the efficacy of applying biochar obtained from wheat grains to eliminate alachlor from water.

The purpose of this study was to develop and characterise bionanocomposites based on chitosan (CHIT) and alginate (ALG) in two series, which were subsequently functionalised with emulsions based on a combination of water, oil, ozonated oil and hibiscus flower extracts. The structure and morphology of the materials produced were characterised by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and ultraviolet and visible light (UV-Vis) absorption spectroscopy, along with a surface colour analysis and the determination of the mechanical and thermal properties of the resulting composites. Functionalisation did affect the analysed composite parameters.

Preclinical evidence suggests that T4 can promote tumor growth while T3 can act conversely; therefore, the fT3 and fT4 concentrations should affect overall survival (OS) in cancer patients. Objective: Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and mass forming chronic pancreatitis (CP) can be easily misdiagnosed due to their resemblances in clinical, radiological, and biochemical criteria. In our previous study, we reported a very high concentration of D-Dimers in portal blood in patients with pancreatic cancer which may help to differentiate malignant from benign pancreatic tumours. In this study, we aim to describe other portal and peripheral coagulation profiles of PDAC in comparison to CP patients, as well to test the hypothesis; thus, it is possible to distinguish pancreatic malignancy and benign tumour based on these parameters.

The maximally disordered (MD) phases with the general formula YPrSbM (M = Sn, Pb) are formed with partial substitution of Y by Pr and Sb by Sn or Pb in the binary YSb compound. During the electrochemical lithiation and sodiation, the formation of YPrSbMLi and YPrSbMNa maximally disordered-high entropy intermetallic phases (MD-HEIP), as the result of insertion of Li/Na into octahedral voids, were observed. Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are an effective additive to improve the cycle stability of the YPrSbM (M = Sn, Pb) anodes for lithium-ion (LIBs) and sodium-ion batteries (SIBs).

A facilitated transport of Pb(II) through polymer inclusion membrane (PIM) containing 1,8,15,22-tetra(1-heptyl)-calixresorcin[4]arene and its tetra- and octasubstituted derivatives containing phosphoryl, thiophosphoryl or ester groups as an ion carrier was investigated. Water soluble highly anionic β-cyclodextrin-based polymers were synthesized by reaction between cyclodextrin oxyanion and pyromellitic anhydride. The synthesis method utilizes activation hydroxyl groups in anhydrous glucopyranosyl units (AGU) in the DMF solution with the use of NaH.
