Objectives: To describe characteristic features in children with recurrent or persistent salivary gland enlargement and to propose a diagnostic algorithm with specific consideration for Sjögren's disease (SD).

Methods: In this single-center, prospective study, 45 patients < 18 years, with recurrent or persistent salivary gland enlargement of unknown etiology were enrolled from 2006 to 2019. We collected detailed clinical information to characterize this group of patients including specific details of their major salivary gland signs and symptoms.

Authors present a rare case of the papillary thyroid carcinoma in thyroglossal duct cyst in a 40 year-old woman. Preoperative assessment (palpation and ultrasonography) showed symptoms of typical thyroglossal duct cyst and the final diagnosis was established after histopathological examination of the surgical specimen. Epidemiology, diagnostic methods and treatment of this rare disease were also discussed in the study.

Objective: The incidence of complications resulting from acute otitis media has significantly decreased since the introduction of antibiotics. The use of antibiotics has lead to decrease in the complications of acute mastoiditis as well as the mortality of the disease.
