Tight relationships exist in the local Universe between the central stellar properties of galaxies and the mass of their supermassive black hole (SMBH). These suggest that galaxies and black holes co-evolve, with the main regulation mechanism being energetic feedback from accretion onto the black hole during its quasar phase. A crucial question is how the relationship between black holes and galaxies evolves with time; a key epoch to examine this relationship is at the peaks of star formation and black hole growth 8-12 billion years ago (redshifts 1-3).

Objective: To investigate the short-term efficacy of primary therapy with lanreotide 120 mg at 1 and 3 months on tumour shrinkage and ophthalmologic symptoms in newly diagnosed patients with acromegaly.
Design And Patients: This single-centre retrospective study included 21 patients with de novo acromegaly resulting from pituitary macroadenoma, with optic chiasm compression (Grade ≤ 2) and/or cavernous sinus invasion, treated with a monthly injection of lanreotide 120 mg.
In the widely accepted 'unified model' solution of the classification puzzle of active galactic nuclei, the orientation of a dusty accretion torus around the central black hole dominates their appearance. In 'type-1' systems, the bright nucleus is visible at the centre of a face-on torus. In 'type-2' systems the thick, nearly edge-on torus hides the central engine.

Background And Objectives: Acute optic neuritis (ON) is a classical presenting symptom of multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD), and anti-MOG-associated disorders. The resulting visual impairment is variable and can be severe. Clinicians are in need of predictive biomarkers to optimize the management of acute ON.

It highlights the apparent dissociation between orbitopathy and thyroid disease. Diagnosis is often too late while early treatment could really improve functional prognosis.

Methods: Both methods were applied to each eye of 44 healthy volunteers, aged between 22 and 55 years. The line passing through the fovea and the center of the papilla was drawn on images from the scanning laser ophthalmoscope (SLO); the line passing through the fixing point and the center of the blind spot was drawn on the charts of the central visual field (VF).
Here we report successful interferometric coupling of two large telescopes with single-mode fibers. Interference fringes were obtained in the 2- to 2.3-micrometer wavelength range on the star 107 Herculis by using the two Keck 10-meter telescopes, each feeding their common interferometric focus with 300 meters of single-mode fibers.

The fluoride glass fibers are operated in the astronomical K band (2.0-2.

It is widely accepted that orientation effects play a major role in explaining the observational appearance of AGNs. Seen from certain directions, circum-nuclear dust clouds would block our view of the central powerhouse.

In spite of rapidly administrated antibiotherapy, the abscess spread very rapidly and left a residual corneal macula.

After analysis of spontaneous evolution of the untreated eyes and review of literature, the authors conclude that preventive photocoagulation in bullous retinoschisis is not advised, because of spontaneous regression with age and the possibility of complications.

Eighteen operations of this kin have been performed without any complications and with results that can be considered as satisfactory. Transplantation itself must not exceed 1/4 or at the most 1/3 of the vertical muscles and must imperatively be associated to a weakening of the 2 medial recti.
