Objective: Chaperonin-containing tailless complex polypeptide 1 subunit 6A (CCT6A) is reported to be an efficient prognostic biomarker in various cancers, but it is rarely reported in astrocytoma. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the expression of CCT6A and its correlation with disease features and prognosis in astrocytoma patients.

Methods: Totally, 198 astrocytoma patients who received surgery treatment were enrolled.

Objective: The cause of surfer myelopathy remains enigmatic and long-term follow-up outcomes are not well documented. In the present study, the mechanisms underlying surfer myelopathy in children are analyzed and the long-term follow-up outcomes are reported.

Methods: Clinical data from 3 institutions were retrospectively analyzed.

Background: Dural venous sinus thrombosis (DVST) after blunt head trauma is not rare; however, its clinical manifestations are vague, which impedes early diagnosis that is vital for its management. Prior studies have demonstrated that the presence of gas in the dural venous sinus (DVS) after blunt head trauma increases the likelihood of DVST. On nonenhanced computed tomography (CT), hyperdensity in the DVS is considered a direct sign of thrombosis, which can enable early diagnosis of traumatic DVST with high specificity but low sensitivity.

To investigate the effects of quercetin on cell viability and apoptosis in meningioma cells and to determine the underlying molecular mechanism. HBL-52 meningioma cells were treated with quercetin at doses of 1, 5, 10, 20, and 40 ng/mL for 24, 36 and 48 h, and cell viability was assessed using the Cell Counting kit-8 (CCK-8) test. Apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) appears to be a significant risk factor for brain injury. Glutaredoxin 2 (GRX2) belongs to the oxidoreductase family and plays an essential role in regulating various cellular processes. However, the pathogenic role of GRX2 in high fat diet (HFD)-induced brain injury is poorly understood.

Overcoming temozolomide (TMZ) resistance is a great challenge in glioblastoma (GBM) treatment. Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) is a rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthesis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and has a crucial role in cancer cell metabolism. In this study, we investigated whether FK866 and CHS828, two specific NAMPT inhibitors, could sensitize GBM cells to TMZ.

Sirtuin 6 (SIRT6) is a member of the mammalian NAD+‑dependent deacetylase sirtuin family that acts to maintain genomic stability and to repress genes. SIRT6 has recently been reported to be a tumor suppressor that controls cancer metabolism, although this effect of SIRT6 is still in dispute. Moreover, the role of SIRT6 in glioma is largely unknown.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) act as key regulators of multiple cancers. miR-329 functions as a tumor suppressor in some malignancies. However, its role in neuroblastoma remains poorly understood.

Objectives: The aims of this study were to determine the effects of intra-arterial local hypothermia on infarct volume in rats with different durations of ischemia and to determine whether hypothermia can prolong the therapeutic time window compared with reperfusion without hypothermia.

Methods: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 260-300 g were divided into control group (permanent MCA occlusion), normothermia groups (NT groups) and hypothermia groups (HT groups). NT groups included rats induced with blood reperfusion for 1.
