Thermogelling hydrogels, such as poly(-isopropylacrylamide) [P(NiPAAm)], provide tunable constructs leveraged in many regenerative biomaterial applications. Recently, our lab developed the crosslinker poly(glycolic acid)-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(glycolic acid)-di(but-2-yne-1,4-dithiol), which crosslinks P(NiPAAm-co-glycidyl methacrylate) via thiol-epoxy reaction and can be functionalized with azide-terminated peptides via alkyne-azide click chemistry. This study's aim was to evaluate the impact of peptides on the physicochemical properties of the hydrogels.

The occurrence of visible particles over the shelf-life of biopharmaceuticals is considered a potential safety risk for parenteral administration. In many cases, particle formation resulted from the accumulation of fatty acids released by the enzymatic hydrolysis of the polysorbate surfactant by co-purified host cell proteins. However, particle formation can occur before the accumulated fatty acids exceed their expected solubility limit.

Surfactants are essential components in protein formulations protecting them against interfacial stress. One of the current industry-wide challenges is enzymatic degradation of parenteral surfactants such as polysorbate 20 (PS20) and polysorbate 80, which leads to the accumulation of free fatty acids (FFAs) potentially forming visible particles over the drug product shelf-life. While the concentration of FFAs can be quantified, the time point of particle formation remains unpredictable.

The level structure of (22)Mg has been studied with high-sensitivity gamma-ray spectroscopy techniques. A complete level scheme is derived incorporating all subthreshold states and all levels in the energy region relevant for novae burning. The excitation energy of the most important astrophysical resonance is measured with improved accuracy and found to differ from previous values.
