Objective: To compare days to diagnosis of pregnancy location for same-day medication abortion and same-day uterine aspiration with delayed treatment (expectant management) in patients with undesired pregnancy of unknown location (PUL).
Study Design: We conducted a retrospective cohort study at a single Planned Parenthood health center in Minnesota. We reviewed electronic health records and included patients presenting for induced abortion diagnosed with PUL (positive high-sensitivity urine pregnancy test and no evidence of intrauterine or extrauterine pregnancy on transvaginal ultrasonography) without symptoms or ultrasonographic imaging concerning for ectopic pregnancy (low risk).

A central step in fucoxanthin biosynthesis that has been elusive so far is the conversion of violaxanthin to neoxanthin. View Article and Find Full Text PDFPseudocarcinomatous (pseudoepitheliomatous) hyperplasia represents reactive epidermal change mimicking squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), owing to a variety of inflammatory and neoplastic phenomena, including deep fungal infections, CD30-positive lymphomas, and others. We report a case of Sweet syndrome (SS) arising in a patient with acute myelogenous leukemia, with persistent orolabial involvement which mimicked SCC both clinically and microscopically, but resolved entirely with adequate corticosteroid treatment. Clinicians should be aware that neutrophilic dermatoses such as SS and pyoderma gangrenosum may rarely exhibit pseudocarcinomatous epidermal changes similar to those seen in soft tissue infections and other inflammatory dermatoses.
