We present a corrosion internal state variable (ISV) damage model based upon the integrated computational materials engineering (ICME) hierarchical multiscale paradigm. Structure-property experiments for magnesium alloys were used where the only inputs were the volume fractions of each element of the periodic table. This macroscale ISV corrosion model finds its basis in Horstemeyer's mechanical damage model, which includes three separate ISVs for damage nucleation, growth, and coalescence, as well as Walton's inclusion of corrosion, which introduces five new ISVs for pit nucleation, growth, and coalescence, along with general corrosion and intergranular corrosion.

Substitutions including methyl (Me), methoxy (OMe), and chloro (Cl) groups, which extend the library pincer Cu-NHC complexes under investigation, modify the impact of pyridinyl basicity on NCN pincer complexes. This neutral Schiff base ligand was structurally characterized to coordinate with copper(II) in an equatorial fashion, yielding a distorted octahedral complex. Upon characterization, this copper(II) complex was used to catalyze an efficient and cost-effective protocol for C-N bond formation between -nucleophiles and copper carbene complexes arising from the activation of diazo carbonyl compounds.

These complexes were then utilized for the optimization of ketone reduction under sustainable conditions using 2-acetylpyridine and phenylsilane. Three bacterial strains, 1AS11, 1AS12 and 1AS13, members of the new symbiovar salignae and isolated from root nodules of grown in Tunisia, were characterized using a polyphasic approach. All three strains were assigned to the complex on the basis of gene analysis. Phylogenetic analysis based on 1734 nucleotides of four concatenated housekeeping genes (, , and ) showed that the three strains were distinct from known rhizobia species of the complex and clustered as a separate clade within this complex.
