Two rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) inbred strains (AX/JU and IIIVO/JU) have been used for genetic analysis of quantitative traits related to dietary cholesterol susceptibility. Application of the AFLP (amplified fragment length polymorphism) technique with 15 primer combinations revealed 226 polymorphisms between the 2 inbred strains. A total of 57 animals from a backcross progeny (IIIVO/JU x [IIIVO/JU x AX/JU]F1) were available for the genetic analysis.
