The Vital Role of Immunohematology in Diagnosing Paroxysmal Cold Hemoglobinuria: A Clinical Case Report.

Paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria (PCH) is a rare autoimmune hemolytic anemia caused by the binding of IgG immunoglobulins to red blood cells at cold temperatures, leading to hemolysis upon rewarming. The Donath-Landsteiner test can show biphasic hemolysis, leading to diagnosis. There is no consensus, but chemoimmunotherapy with or without plasma exchange is commonly employed.

Treatment Challenges of Acquired Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura in Pediatric Patients From a Low-Income Country.

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of two cases of acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (aTTP) observed in pediatric patients from a low-income country. In the instances described, both patients underwent a treatment regimen involving plasma exchange and immunosuppressive therapy conducted without the use of caplacizumab. Caplacizumab, an approved drug for adults known for its limited availability and high cost, has exhibited efficacy in reducing response time and recurrence frequency in aTTP cases.

Factors That Influence the Attitude of the Population to Be a Donor in Mexico.

Background: Transplantation depends on a donation from a living or deceased donor, with the latter ideally involving a multiorgan transplant. The objective of this study was to determine the factors that influence the attitudes of the population in Mexico toward being a donor.

Methods: We conducted an observational, cross-sectional study with a survey on the attitudes toward donation in the population of Mexico.
