Methods for establishing the absolute configuration of sulfur-stereogenic aza-sulfur derivatives are scarce, often relying on cumbersome protocols and a limited pool of enantioenriched starting materials. We have addressed this by exploiting, for the first time, a feature of sulfonimidamides in which it is possible for tautomeric structures to also be enantiomeric. Such sulfonimidamides can readily generate prochiral ions, which we have exploited in an enantioselective alkylation process.

To fully understand customers' responses to service failure during a crisis we asked 70 millennials from three European Countries-Italy, France, and the UK-to describe their responses to service failure during the Covid-19 pandemic (30 completed a 4-week diary and 40 completed a 4-week qualitative survey). Drawing on phenomenological, constructivist, and hermeneutical approaches, and utilizing an actor-network theory perspective, the current study proposes a new framework for understanding customers' responses to online service failure and recovery strategies during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The reactions use a catalyst generated from the combination of commercial, air-stable NiCl·(glyme) and a commercially available bipyridine ligand, and deliver sulfinamide products. The scope of the reaction is established using a sulfonimidamide synthesis, in which the initially formed sulfinamides undergo oxidative chlorination with the inexpensive and safe chlorinating agent, trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA), to produce sulfonimidoyl chlorides as key intermediates.

Previously, an aerobic sulfolane-assimilating sp. was identified from the aquifer using stable isotope probing.

Methods: Single-center retrospective analysis of non-HIV PJP patients at a tertiary referral center from 2007 to 2016 to determine the incidence of PJP in patients with primary neurologic disorders.
Results: The study included 142 patients with PJP without HIV.
On May 25, 2021, the Marin County Department of Public Health (MCPH) was notified by an elementary school that on May 23, an unvaccinated teacher had reported receiving a positive test result for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The teacher reported becoming symptomatic on May 19, but continued to work for 2 days before receiving a test on May 21. On occasion during this time, the teacher read aloud unmasked to the class despite school requirements to mask while indoors.

Currently, there are challenges and lack of innovations regarding early diagnosis and therapeutic options within different aspects of management of patients suffering from chronic pancreatitis (CP). Use of EV as biomarkers for pancreatic health and/or as adjuvant therapy would make a difference in management of these patients.

We previously reported that miR-150 is activated by β-blocker carvedilol (Carv) and plays a protective role in the heart using a systemic miR-150 KO mouse model.

Here, we describe two Caucasian teenagers with the diagnosis. They both had variable responses to prednisone, one in the setting of an elevated ANA, suggesting an autoimmune or inflammatory pathomechanism of the disorder.

Network collaborators included federal, state, county, university, and private resource personnel working with companion animals, livestock, and wildlife. Specimens were collected primarily from dogs and cattle, with initial detections of female adult stage ticks by stakeholders associated with parasitology positions (e.

This report shows the first chemical applications of an autonomous tool to identify the kinetic model and parameters of a process, when considering both catalytic species and various integer and non-integer orders in the model's rate laws. This kinetic analysis methodology requires only the input of the species within the chemical system (starting materials, intermediates, products, ) and corresponding time-series concentration data to determine the kinetic information of the chemistry of interest.

We also sought to assess improvement in contact tracing timeliness associated with sending SMS-linked surveys.
Study Design: During December 4-15, 2020, persons identified as COVID-19 cases whose data was entered into Marin County's contact tracing database on even days received a SMS-linked survey and persons whose data was entered on odd days did not; all were called for case investigation and contact tracing.
Abdominal surgery results in an activation of immune cells of the bowel wall and a consecutive cytokine and nitric oxide (NO) release leading to an inflammation of the muscularis externa and a bowel paralysis, the so-called postoperative ileus (POI). In addition to the local inflammation, major surgical trauma can also lead to a variable pronounced systemic inflammation up to its maximum variant, the systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), with hypotension, capillary leak and a breakdown of the intestinal barrier function followed by multi-organ dysfunction (MODS). Until now, neither for SIRS nor for POI, a prophylaxis or an evidence-based treatment exists.

However, metal sulfinate salts can be challenging to purify, solubilize in reaction media, and are not tolerant to multi-step transformations. Here we introduce base-activated, latent sulfinate reagents: β-nitrile and β-ester sulfones.

Severe burn injury is a devastating trauma with significant immune dysfunction that results in an ∼12% mortality rate due to sepsis-induced organ failure, pneumonia, and other infections. Severe burn causes a biphasic immune response: an early (0-72 h) hyper-inflammatory state, with release of damage-associated molecular pattern molecules, such as high-mobility group protein 1 (HMGB1), and proinflammatory cytokines (e.

Left unchecked, these emotional changes might have a wide array of adverse impacts. To reduce negative emotions and increase positive emotions, we tested the effectiveness of reappraisal, an emotion-regulation strategy that modifies how one thinks about a situation.

This report presents a case of a non-neoplastic pseudotumor of the lung initially mistaken for malignancy that occurred in a patient receiving adjuvant nivolumab therapy following complete resection of stage IIIB melanoma. The diagnosis was made by lung biopsy and confirmed by a wedge resection, with findings consistent with organizing pneumonia type of pulmonary inflammatory pseudotumor rather than malignancy.

The resulting triazene-substituted ketone products can then undergo either a Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H activation, or an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction, achieving multifunctionalization of the benzene core.

A priori power analyses have become increasingly popular in scientific communities, but the practice has not been widely discussed by HFE researchers. Given the complexity of conducting such analyses, software tools are essential. We review the emergence and current state of power analysis software tools, and use the concept of User-Centered Design as an analytical lens for examining the relationship between researchers' needs and power analysis tools' characteristics.

Available studies have primarily focused on unconventional gas drilling and have not accounted for local population changes that can coincide with drilling activity.
Objective: Our study sought to examine associations between residential proximity to oil and gas drilling and adverse term birth outcomes using a difference-in-differences study design.
Sexual consent is a multidimensional construct that requires the participation of all involved in a sexual encounter; however, previous research has almost exclusively relied on one person's perspective. To address this, we collected open- and closed-ended data on sexual consent from 37 dyads in committed sexual relationships ( = 74). We found that relationship length was associated with sexual consent and couples who accurately perceived each other's consent communication cues reported elevated levels of internal consent feelings.
