Introduction: African Americans (AA) are widely underrepresented in plasma biomarker studies for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and current diagnostic biomarker candidates do not reflect the heterogeneity of AD.

Methods: Untargeted proteome measurements were obtained using the SomaScan 7k platform to identify novel plasma biomarkers for AD in a cohort of AA clinically diagnosed as AD dementia (n=183) or cognitively unimpaired (CU, n=145). Machine learning approaches were implemented to identify the set of plasma proteins that yields the best classification accuracy.

Background: Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) is one of the most well characterised human malignancies. Most patients have a cytogenetically visible translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22 which generates the pathognomonic BCR::ABL1 fusion gene. The derivative chromosome 22 ('Philadelphia' or Ph chromosome) usually harbours the fusion gene encoding a constitutively active ABL1 kinase domain.

Introduction: Retroperitoneal soft tissue sarcoma (RPS) is characterized by high recurrence rates. Since complete tumor resection, often necessitating multivisceral resection, enables long-term survival in both primary and recurrent disease, health related quality of life (QoL) after RPS resection has attracted increasing interest. However, data regarding this topic is limited.

Following exposure to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), a coordinated host response comprising both pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines is critical for pathogen control. Although tuberculosis (TB) remains the leading cause of death among people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the impact of HIV infection on Mtb-specific immune responses remains unclear. In this cross-sectional study of TB-exposed household contacts with and without HIV, we collected remaining supernatant from interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) testing (QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus [QFT-Plus]) and measured Mtb-specific pro-inflammatory, anti-inflammatory, and regulatory cytokine responses with a multiplex assay of 11 analytes.
