Combined ACLR and lateral extra-articular tenodesis with a continuous iliotibial band autograft is a viable option in a population of athletes who participate in pivoting sports.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical results, return to sport and complications after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) associated with lateral extra-articular tenodesis using continuous plasty with an iliotibial band.

Methods: This was a prospective multicentre study involving 186 patients who had surgery for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture. Patients with multiligament ruptures and revision surgery were excluded from the study.

While anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using the iliotibial band is not a new technique, it still remains underdeveloped. The iliotibial band has historically been described as a thin and less resistant structure. Its harvesting has been associated with a risk of complications (hematoma, muscle hernia) and its small graft diameter increases the risk of rerupture.

Measurement properties of the Star Excursion Balance Test in patients with ACL deficiency.

Objectives: To assess intrarater reliability, agreement and construct validity of the Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT) in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) deficiency and the ability of the SEBT to distinguish between healthy and ACL-deficient individuals.

Methods: Patients with ACL deficiency and healthy matched controls performed the SEBT and the One Leg Hop for Distance test (OLHD). Three consecutive trials were analyzed.
