In 2011, St. Louis, Missouri launched a partnership aimed at enhancing access to health information through its urban public library system.
The project involved assessing community health information needs, training library staff, and installing information kiosks to distribute health materials, along with hosting health-related programs.
The initiative expanded to include local social service and community organizations, ensuring long-term sustainability and alignment with the community's health and wellness goals.
Three health sciences librarians created a curriculum to connect pre-school - grade 12 (P-12) personnel with credible health information. The course focuses on MedlinePlus® and KidsHealth.org®.
