Asymmetric Stereo High Dynamic Range Imaging with Smartphone Cameras.

Stereo high dynamic range imaging (SHDRI) offers a more temporally stable solution to high dynamic range (HDR) imaging from low dynamic range input images compared to bracketing and removes the loss of accuracy that single-image HDR solutions offer. However, few solutions currently exist that take advantage of the different (asymmetric) lenses, commonly found on modern smartphones, to achieve SHDRI. This paper presents a method that achieves single-shot asymmetric HDR fusion via a reference-based deep learning approach.

How does the environment in and around the home affect social care and health outcomes for older people? A national longitudinal dynamic cohort study.

Background: Reducing the burden of falls and fall-related admissions to hospital and care homes is an important policy area because falls cause significant injury leading to a reduced quality of life. We investigated the effect of the environment around people's homes on the risk of falls for older people in Wales.

Methods: In this longitudinal cohort study, we created a dynamic national e-cohort of individuals aged 60 years or older living in Wales between Jan 1, 2010, and Dec 31, 2019.

COVID-19 booster vaccination uptake and infection breakthrough amongst health care workers in Wales: A national prospective cohort study.

Background: From September 2021, Health Care Workers (HCWs) in Wales began receiving a COVID-19 booster vaccination. This is the first dose beyond the primary vaccination schedule. Given the emergence of new variants, vaccine waning vaccine, and increasing vaccination hesitancy, there is a need to understand booster vaccine uptake and subsequent breakthrough in this high-risk population.

Greenhouse Gas and Noxious Emissions from Dual Fuel Diesel and Natural Gas Heavy Goods Vehicles.

Dual fuel diesel and natural gas heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) operate on a combination of the two fuels simultaneously. By substituting diesel for natural gas, vehicle operators can benefit from reduced fuel costs and as natural gas has a lower CO2 intensity compared to diesel, dual fuel HGVs have the potential to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the freight sector. In this study, energy consumption, greenhouse gas and noxious emissions for five after-market dual fuel configurations of two vehicle platforms are compared relative to their diesel-only baseline values over transient and steady state testing.
