Article Synopsis
  • * In a 12-week double-blind study involving over 360 participants aged 9 and older, CAB led to a 50% success rate in achieving clear skin, significantly outperforming a placebo gel, with over 70% reduction in both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions.
  • * The treatment showed a good safety profile, with only mild to moderate side effects and a low discontinuation rate due to adverse events, indicating CAB could be a promising option for those suffering from moderate

Meibomian glands are modified oil-producing glands that produce meibum and can become dysfunctional and negatively affect the lipid layer in the tear film, resulting in ocular surface diseases such as evaporative dry eye. Abnormal keratin production and aggregation at the meibomian gland orifice has been implicated in the pathogenesis of meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). Current treatments largely ignore the role of keratin proteins.

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is responsible for the recovery and identification of its historic casualties. With over 30,000 still unrecovered from past conflicts including World War One (WW1) and World War Two (WWII), the Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force have teams that research, recover, identify and oversee the burial (or reburial) of the remains of soldiers and airmen who continue to be found each year. The Royal Australian Navy is also responsible for its unrecovered casualties.

Early initiation of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in vertically HIV-infected children limits the size of the virus reservoir, but whether the time of treatment initiation (TI) can durably impact host immune responses associated with HIV infection is still unknown. This study was conducted in PBMC of 20 HIV-infected virally suppressed children on ART (mean age 9.4 y), classified as early treated (ET; age at ART initiation ≤0.

We examined the prevalence of cesarean delivery (CD) among women with morbid obesity and extreme morbid obesity. Using Kentucky birth certificate data, a cross-sectional analysis of nulliparous singleton gestations at term was performed. We examined the prevalence of CD by body mass index (BMI; in kg/m2) using the National Institutes of Health/World Health Organization schema and a modified schema that separates extreme morbid obesity (BMI ≥ 50) from morbid obesity (BMI ≥ 40 to < 50).

Objective: To study the risk factors for preeclampsia and their interactions.

Study Design: We used a nested, case-control study design to analyze data collected in the Delivery Interview Program, 1977-1980, Boston Hospital for Women (now known as the Brigham and Women's Hospital), Boston. Cases (n = 386) of obstetrician-diagnosed preeclampsia were compared with randomly selected controls (n = 2,355).
