Millions of people are annually infected by mosquito-transmitted arboviruses including dengue virus (DENV), West Nile virus (WNV), Zika virus (ZIKV) and chikungunya virus (CHIKV). Insect-specific flaviviruses (ISFs), which only infect mosquitoes and cannot replicate in vertebrates, can offers a potential one health strategy to block the transmission of arboviruses by reducing the mosquito's susceptibility for subsequent arbovirus infections through superinfection exclusion (SIE),. Most SIE studies focus on acute ISF infections in RNAi-deficient C6/36 cells.

Background: Tubal ectopic pregnancy can be surgically treated by salpingectomy, in which the affected Fallopian tube is removed, or salpingotomy, in which the tube is preserved. Despite potentially increased risks of persistent trophoblast and repeat ectopic pregnancy, salpingotomy is often preferred over salpingectomy because the preservation of both tubes is assumed to offer favourable fertility prospects, although little evidence exists to support this assumption. We aimed to assess whether salpingotomy would improve rates of ongoing pregnancy by natural conception compared with salpingectomy.

Background: Long-term effects of ovarian stimulation for IVF on the risk of ovarian malignancies are unknown.

Methods: We identified a nationwide historic cohort of 19,146 women who received IVF treatment in the Netherlands between 1983 and 1995, and a comparison group of 6006 subfertile women not treated with IVF. In 1997-1999, data on reproductive risk factors were obtained from 65% of women and data on subfertility (treatment) were obtained from the medical records.

Background: Few studies have investigated the association between subfertility in women and factors in early life such as birth weight and age at menarche, and most have produced contradictory results. In the present study, this association was investigated among women undergoing artificial reproductive techniques (ART), including IVF for reason of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or diminished ovarian reserve. Herein, PCOS included oligomenorrhoea and at least one additional symptom such as hyperandrogenism, hirsutism or polycystic ovaries on ultrasound.
