Background: In the United States, COVID-related discrimination towards racial and ethnic minority populations is well documented; however, its impact on healthcare access during the pandemic has not been assessed.

Methods: We used data from our nationally representative, online survey of 5,500 American Indian/Alaska Native (AIAN), Asian, Black, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Latino, White, and multiracial adults conducted between 12/2020-2/2021 (baseline) and 8/2021-9/2021 (6-month follow-up; 35.1% response rate).

People with branched attractions may experience sexual and romantic attractions to different genders; for example, they may be sexually attracted to one gender and romantically attracted to another gender. Because branched attractions may violate folk theories about sexuality, we expected individuals with these attractions to face unique stereotypes. Across three preregistered experiments (total N = 1041), and using predominantly White, non-Latiné, and straight samples, we asked if White (Studies 1 and 2) and East Asian (Study 3) targets with branched attractions are seen as: (1) confused, dishonest, and non-monogamous (bi stereotypes), (2) uncertain about and in denial of their sexuality (instability stereotypes), and (3) desired as sexual objects (fetishized), compared to targets with aligned (same-gender, other-gender, bisexual) attractions.

The clinical effectiveness of KRASG12C inhibitors (G12Ci) is limited both by intrinsic and acquired resistance, necessitating the development of combination approaches. Here, we identified targeting proximal receptor tyrosine kinase signaling using the SOS1 inhibitor (SOS1i) BI-3406 as a strategy to improve responses to G12Ci treatment. SOS1i enhanced the efficacy of G12Ci and limited rebound receptor tyrosine kinase/ERK signaling to overcome intrinsic/adaptive resistance, but this effect was modulated by SOS2 protein levels.

Healing of deep cutaneous wounds often results in detrimental sequelae, including painful and debilitating scars. Current therapies for full-thickness injuries that target specific phases of wound healing have moderate success; however, full resolution remains incomplete and negative consequences persist if skin homeostasis is not achieved. Photoactivated molecules can modulate cellular responses by generating reactive oxygen species and may provide a novel therapeutic option to improve wound healing.

Blood biochemistry represents a minimally invasive tool for monitoring sea turtle health, assessing injured sea turtles and supporting conservation strategies. In Grenada, West Indies, plasma biochemical variables were examined in 33 nesting leatherback (), 49 foraging green (), 49 foraging hawksbill () and 12 nesting hawksbill sea turtles sampled between 2017 and 2022. Plasma biochemistry reference intervals are described herein except for nesting hawksbills, which are represented by descriptive statistics due to the low sample size.

Background: Black women are at an increased risk of developing uterine leiomyomas and experiencing worse disease prognosis than White women. Epidemiologic and molecular factors have been identified as underlying these disparities, but there remains a paucity of deep, multiomic analysis investigating molecular differences in uterine leiomyomas from Black and White patients.

Introduction: Databases used for clinical interpretation in oncology rely on genetic data derived primarily from patients of European ancestry, leading to biases in cancer genetics research and clinical practice. One practical issue that arises in this context is the potential misclassification of multi-ancestral population variants as tumor-associated because they are not represented in reference genomes against which tumor sequencing data is aligned.

Methods: To systematically find misclassified variants, we compared somatic variants in census genes from the Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC) V99 with multi-ancestral population variants from the Genome Aggregation Databases' Linkage Disequilibrium (GnomAD).

We performed a deep proteogenomic analysis of bulk tumor and laser microdissection enriched tumor cell populations from high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) tissue specimens spanning a broad spectrum of purity. We identified patients with longer progression-free survival had increased immune-related signatures and validated proteins correlating with tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in 65 tumors from an independent cohort of HGSOC patients, as well as with overall survival in an additional 126 HGSOC patient cohort. We identified that homologous recombination deficient (HRD) tumors are enriched in pathways associated with metabolism and oxidative phosphorylation that we validated in independent patient cohorts.
