Introduction: Dietary guidelines worldwide emphasize the importance of consuming vegetables as part of a healthy diet. Despite this, translating this information into messages for consumers that change behavior has been difficult. There have been population-level social marketing campaigns as well as several smaller campaigns directed specifically toward children, which have demonstrated small increases in consumption.

We have developed the capability to elucidate interfacial reaction dynamics using an arguably unique combination of supersonic molecular beams combined with STM visualization. These capabilities have been implemented in order to reveal the complex spatiotemporal correlations that govern the oxidation of graphitic systems spanning atomic-, nano-, and meso-length scales. In this study, the 3 nm periodic moiré pattern of monolayer and bilayer graphene on Ru(0001) provides a diverse palette of potential scattering and binding sites at the interface for ground state atomic oxygen.

Endothelial cells line the blood and lymphatic vasculature, and act as an essential physical barrier, control nutrient transport, facilitate tissue immunosurveillance and coordinate angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis. In the intestine, dietary and microbial cues are particularly important in the regulation of organ homeostasis. However, whether enteric endothelial cells actively sense and integrate such signals is currently unknown.

Children need to be repeatedly and consistently exposed to a variety of vegetables from an early age to achieve an increase in vegetable intake. A focus on enjoyment and learning to like eating vegetables at an early age is critical to forming favourable lifelong eating habits. Coordinated work is needed to ensure vegetables are available and promoted in a range of settings, using evidence-based initiatives, to create an environment that will support children’s acceptance of vegetables.

Food-based dietary guidelines (FBDGs) provide country-specific guidance on what constitutes a healthy diet. With increasing evidence for the synergy between human and planetary health, FBDGs have started to consider the environmental sustainability of food choices. However, the number of countries that discuss environmental sustainability in their guidelines is unknown.

Liver cirrhosis is commonly associated with coagulopathies, typically demonstrated by elevated prothrombin time, international normalized ratio, and partial thromboplastin time. In the setting of bleeding related to coagulopathies, oftentimes physicians try to reverse coagulopathy through a variety of methods including the use of vitamin K and fresh frozen plasma. Rarely, attempts at reversing coagulopathy are unsuccessful due to severe disease or factor inhibitors.

Several randomized clinical trials have demonstrated the clinical utility of colchicine in the prevention and management of various cardiovascular conditions, including secondary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, acute and chronic pericarditis, and atrial fibrillation. As a result, it is reasonable to anticipate increased use of colchicine within the cardiovascular specialty. However, colchicine is metabolized by cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) and a substrate of the efflux transporter, P-glycoprotein (P-gp), creating the potential for clinically significant drug-drug interactions (DDIs).

Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) typically presents with complications from pancytopenia, generalized weakness, and hemorrhagic findings, with a distinguishing feature being the associated predilection of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). APL is characterized by the halting of cellular differentiation in the promyelocyte stage, and balanced chromosomal translocation t(15;17) (q24;q21) that forms the promyelocytic leukemia-retinoic acid receptor-α (PML-RARA) fusion protein present in 95% of cases. APL has a high rate of early mortality secondary to coagulopathy, lending to the imperative need to begin a differentiation agent as soon as the disease is suspected, with all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) being the most common differentiation agent.

Collapsing glomerulopathy (CG) is a rare variant of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) that commonly presents as nephrotic syndrome in patients. CG is almost always associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection but is rarely from other infectious sources such as parvovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, and SARS-CoV-2. CG has also been reported to be related to other etiologies such as genetic disorders, lupus, malignancy, and post-renal transplant but is exceedingly rare when related to hepatitis C virus (HCV).

The 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors, also known as "statins" are considered first-line pharmacologic therapy for reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). They have been demonstrated efficacy in a variety of patients populations to reduce atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk. Like any pharmacologic therapy, however, they are not without possible adverse effects that can lead to discontinuation, thus leading to a loss of benefit.

Background: Co-design has the potential to create interventions that lead to sustainable health behaviour change. Evidence suggests application of co-design in various health domains has been growing; however, few public-facing digital interventions have been co-designed to specifically address the needs of adults at risk of Type 2 diabetes (T2D). This study aims to: (1) co-design, with key stakeholders, a digital dietary intervention to promote health behaviour change among adults at risk of T2D, and (2) evaluate the co-design process involved in developing the intervention prototype.

Cardiovascular (CV) disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States. In addition to lifestyle modifications, current guidelines primarily focus on lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) to reduce atherosclerotic CV disease risk. However, despite aggressive management, a degree of residual risk remains, suggesting that focusing on lowering LDL-C alone may be inadequate and that other lipid parameters may need to be targeted.
