The invasive species Hovenia dulcis is considered the main invasive species in the Atlantic Forest, capable of altering environmental conditions at a local scale and provoking profound changes in the composition of the plant community. Combining drone and satellite images can make forest monitoring more efficient, enabling a more targeted and effective response to contain the spread of invasive species. This research aimed to use high-resolution CBERS-4A satellite combined with drone images to detect invasive trees in forested areas of the Atlantic Forest.

To describe a new inner-branched device used to treat two cases of chronic post-dissection aortic thoraco-abdominal aneurysms (PD-TAAAs) after ascending aortic surgery. A 67-year-old male who had undergone an ascending aorta and arch surgical replacement and a 70-year-old male with a previous Bentall procedure for acute type A aortic dissection were admitted at our department with a PD-TAAA diagnosis. Both patients were defined unfit for open surgery by a multidisciplinary team and a totally percutaneous endovascular repair was planned.

Determining mechanisms of resistance to αPD-1/PD-L1 immune-checkpoint immunotherapy is key to developing new treatment strategies. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF) have many tumor-promoting functions and promote immune evasion through multiple mechanisms, but as yet, no CAF-specific inhibitors are clinically available. Here we generated CAF-rich murine tumor models (TC1, MC38, and 4T1) to investigate how CAFs influence the immune microenvironment and affect response to different immunotherapy modalities [anticancer vaccination, TC1 (HPV E7 DNA vaccine), αPD-1, and MC38] and found that CAFs broadly suppressed response by specifically excluding CD8 T cells from tumors (not CD4 T cells or macrophages); CD8 T-cell exclusion was similarly present in CAF-rich human tumors.

To report the use of endografts to manage multiple aneurysms due to Cogan syndrome (CS). A 38-year-old woman with descending thoracic aorta and right common carotid artery aneurysms due to CS was treated with endovascular grafts. After 4 years, angio computed tomography scan demonstrated complete exclusion of the aneurysms with no signs of endoleak, whereas echo color Doppler showed patency of the carotid graft, no signs of restenosis, no progression of the disease in the landing zones, and complete aneurysm exclusion.

Background: To report the use of an endograft to manage a type Ib endoleak in a patient with a juxtarenal aortic aneurysm previously treated with a multilayer stent.

Methods: Under compassionate use, a 68-year-old patient with a juxtarenal aortic aneurysm and multiple comorbidities was treated with a multilayer flow modulating stent. Twelve months later a new computed tomography (CT) scan identified a type Ib endoleak with an increase in the aortic aneurysm size because of the extension of the aneurysmal disease to the aortic carrefour.

High resolution manometry represents an interesting technological advance, facilitating the procedure, a continuous recording of the peristalsis on a single image, a user-friendly reading of the spatio-temporal relationship of the peristaltic waves, and the identification of suspended focal abnormalities. Telemetric pH-metry, performed by insertion of a wireless capsule directly in the oesophagus, now remplaces conventional pH-metry, which requires a naso-oesophageal line.
