Background: The aim of this study was to quantify hypertension control and evaluate concordance between all commonly available blood pressure (BP) modalities in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs).
Methods: For this prospective cross-sectional study, 89 stable KTRs were recruited at the Charité Transplant Outpatient Clinic. For each study participant office [manual office BP (MOBP) and automated office BP (AOBP)], 7-day home (HBPM) and 24-hour ambulatory BP (24h-ABPM) measurements were performed.
Kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) show higher morbidity and mortality from COVID-19 than the general population and have an impaired response to vaccination. We analyzed COVID-19 incidence and clinical outcomes in a single-center cohort of approximately 2500 KTRs. Between 1 February 2020 and 1 July 2022, 578 KTRs were infected with SARS-CoV-2, with 25 (4%) recurrent infections.

However, beyond often short-lived improvements, many additional aspects need to be taken into consideration to make sustainable progress. What does it take to implement a clinical decision support system, what makes it usable for the domain experts, and what brings it eventually into practical usage? So far, there has been little research to answer these questions.

The potential of such systems is often emphasized. However, implementation in clinical practice deserves continuous attention.

In addition, data on a holistic view looking at both death with a functioning graft (DWFG) and death-censored graft failure (DCGF) are sparse.
Methods: In this single-centre study we included 1477 adult kidney transplants performed between 1997 and 2017, of which all 286 DWFGs until the end of observation were analysed and causes for death assigned.
Patient care after kidney transplantation requires integration of complex information to make informed decisions on risk constellations. Many machine learning models have been developed for detecting patient outcomes in the past years. However, performance metrics alone do not determine practical utility.

The Telemedical Interventional Management in Heart Failure II (TIM-HF2)-trial showed reduced all-cause mortality and hospitalizations in heart failure (HF) patients using remote patient management (RPM) vs. usual care (UC).

However, AMR criteria have been frequently changed, and long-term outcomes of allografts with AMR and TG according to Banff 2017 have rarely been investigated.
Methods: 282 kidney allograft recipients with biopsy-proven TG were retrospectively investigated and diagnosed according to Banff'17 criteria: chronic AMR (cAMR, = 72), chronic active AMR (cAAMR, = 76) and isolated TG (iTG, = 134).
Antiviral drugs have shown little impact in patient infected with acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Especially for immunocompromised persons positive for SARS-CoV-2, novel treatments are warranted. Recently, the U.

We retrospectively investigated renal allograft function and long-term outcomes of 67 patients with cAMR, and compared patients who received antihumoral therapy (cAMR-AHT, = 21) with patients without treatment (cAMRwo, = 46). At baseline, the cAMR-AHT group had more concomitant T-cell-mediated rejection (9/46 (19.

The features and possible risk factors for proteinuria in TG patients are uncertain. We investigated all patients who had biopsy-proven TG from 2000 to 2018 in our center.

Patients provide information such as vital signs, well-being, and medication intake via smartphone apps. The information is transferred directly into a database and electronic health record at the kidney transplant center, which is used for routine patient care and research.

Methods: A novel approach assigns each persistent and relevant decline in renal function over the lifetime of a renal allograft to a standardized category, hypothesizing that singular or multiple events finally lead to GL. An adjudication committee of three physicians retrospectively evaluated indication biopsies, laboratory testing, and medical history of all 303 GLs among all 1642 recipients of transplants between January 1, 1997 and December 31, 2017 at a large university hospital to assign primary and/or secondary causes of GL.
The number of patients returning to dialysis after graft failure increases. Surprisingly, little is known about the clinical and immunological outcomes of this cohort. We retrospectively analyzed 254 patients after kidney allograft loss between 1997 and 2017 and report clinical outcomes such as mortality, relisting, retransplantations, transplant nephrectomies, and immunization status.

To date, there is limited knowledge regarding proteinuria in different types of TG and its relationship to allograft survival. A retrospective cohort analysis of TG patients from indication biopsies was performed to investigate the relationship of proteinuria, histology, and graft survival.

The lack of consensus definition, and practical diagnostic tools for evaluating waitlisted candidates and transplant recipients are barriers to early detect and initiate therapeutic management for sarcopenic obesity. Although sarcopenia leads to poor clinical outcomes, posttransplant obesity yields conflicting results.

In this review, we analyzed the current status of eHealth in transplantation by performing a PubMed search over the last 5 years with a focus on clinical studies for post-transplant care. We retrieved 463 manuscripts, of which 52 clinical reports and eight randomized controlled trials were identified.

Triacetylfusarinine C, a fungal siderophore that has been shown to accumulate in urine in animal models, is a potential new biomarker for diagnosis of IA.
Methods: We developed a method allowing absolute and matrix-independent mass spectrometric quantification of TAFC.
The study evaluated the newly formatted Aspergillus-specific lateral-flow-device (LFD), and compared its performance to the original prototype "old" LFD test using BALF samples from 28 patients (14 patients with probable/proven invasive pulmonary aspergillosis [IPA] and 14 patients with no evidence for IPA). A total of 10/14 (71%) of BALF samples from patients with probable/proven IPA resulted positive with the new LFD, including 8/9 with true-positive and 2/5 with false-negative results with the old LFD. All 14 samples from patients without IPA resulted negative with the new LFD; specificity of the new LFD was significantly improved compared to the old LFD.

Low posaconazole plasma concentrations (PPCs) have been associated with breakthrough invasive fungal infections. We assessed the correlation between pre-steady-state PPCs (obtained between days 3 and 5) and PPCs obtained during steady state in 48 patients with underlying hematological malignancies receiving posaconazole oral-solution prophylaxis. Pre-steady-state PPCs correlated significantly with PPCs obtained at steady state (Spearman r = 0.

The aim of our study was to evaluate whether CRBSIs could be anticipated and detected in a subclinical stage by peptide nucleic acid fluorescence in situ hybridization (PNA FISH) using universal hybridization probes or acridine orange leucocyte cytospin (AOLC) tests in haematooncological patients with central venous catheters (CVCs) in situ.
Materials And Methods: Peptide nucleic acid fluorescence in situ hybridization and AOLC tests using blood samples from one CVC lumen/port chamber in haematooncological patients were continuously performed.
