Background: Hyperglycemia is a known risk factor for tendon degeneration due to oxidative stresses from production of advanced glycosylation end products. In patients with diabetes mellitus (DM), analysis of glycated hemoglobin (HbA) provides a 3-month window into a patient's glucose control. No guidelines exist for ideal preoperative HbA and glucose control prior to arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate implant survivorship and clinical outcomes following radial head arthroplasty for fracture at long-term follow-ups.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on adult patients who underwent primary uncemented radial head arthroplasty for radial head or neck fractures between 2012 and 2015. Medical records were reviewed to collect information regarding demographics, injury characteristics, reoperations, and revisions requiring implant removal.

Background: Recently, some payers have limited access to total knee arthroplasty (TKA) to patients who have Kellgren-Lawrence (KL) grade 4 osteoarthritis only. This study compared the outcomes of patients who have KL grade 3 and 4 osteoarthritis after TKA to determine if this new policy is justified.

Methods: This was a secondary analysis of a series originally established to collect outcomes for a single, cemented implant design.

Background: Post-operative urinary retention (POUR) following primary total joint arthroplasty (TJA) has a reported prevalence up to 35%. Risk factors for POUR have included surrogate markers such as the presence or absence of urologic disease. Pre-operative dynamic measurement with post-void residual volumes (PVR) has not been investigated as a tool for assessing POUR risk.

Introduction: The 2016 Interim Report on the Health Risks to Women in Ground Close Combat Roles highlighted an increased risk of skeletal injury and significant physiological changes, including increased ligament laxity and decreased bone mineral content, during the postpartum period. The report called for further research and a re-evaluation of postpartum policy to optimise the return of female Service personnel to arduous employment. The purpose of this study was to determine whether returning to duty is at greater risk of injury and illness in the first year postpartum than they were prepregnancy.
