Background: Immunotherapy is used routinely for treating deficient mismatch repair (dMMR) colon cancer (CC). This case series highlights an emerging safety issue, where patients develop bowel obstruction associated with immunotherapy response.
Patients And Methods: Patients with dMMR CC who developed bowel obstruction while responding to immunotherapy were retrospectively identified.
Background: Stroma AReactive Invasion Front Areas (SARIFA) is a novel prognostic histopathologic biomarker measured at the invasive front in haematoxylin & eosin (H&E) stained colon and gastric cancer resection specimens. The aim of the current study was to validate the prognostic relevance of SARIFA-status in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients and investigate its association with the luminal proportion of tumour (PoT).

Idiopathic CD4+ T-cell lymphocytopenia (ICL) is a very rare cause of PML.
Methods: We present an individual with PML secondary to ICL treated with 3 doses of pembrolizumab, a Programmed-Death-1 Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor following with complete resolution of symptoms and conduct a review of the literature.
Genetic evidence indicates disrupted epigenetic regulation as a major risk factor for psychiatric disorders, but the molecular mechanisms that drive this association remain to be determined. EHMT1 is an epigenetic repressor that is causal for Kleefstra Syndrome (KS), a genetic disorder linked with neurodevelopmental disorders and associated with schizophrenia. Here, we show that reduced EHMT1 activity decreases NRSF/REST protein leading to abnormal neuronal gene expression and progression of neurodevelopment in human iPSC.

Our synthesis reviews relevant aspects of mining operations, describes the ecology of salmonid-bearing watersheds in northwestern North America, and compiles the impacts of metal and coal extraction on salmonids and their habitat. We conservatively estimate that this region encompasses nearly 4000 past producing mines, with present-day operations ranging from small placer sites to massive open-pit projects that annually mine more than 118 million metric tons of earth.

The structural characteristic, thermal stability, phase-separation behavior, and melt-spinnability of the SNPs and the structural properties of the derived carbon fibers were systematically investigated. The results show that spinnable SNPs with controllable mesophase contents ranging from 0 to 100 vol % and softening points (210-290 °C) could be easily obtained by a nitrogen-bubbling treatment to improve their thermal stability and melt-spinnability by avoiding the phase separation of liquid crystal (LC) in the pitch.

The prevalence of severe disease in children living in the settlements around Cape Town is particularly high.
Methods: An observational study of a systematic sample of children under 5 who presented to any primary care facility in Khayelitsha, an informal settlement of Cape Town, with diarrhoea and referred to secondary care between 1 November 2015 and 30 April 2016.
In this age of 'fake news', it is crucial that children are equipped with the skills to identify unreliable information online. Our study is the first to examine whether children are influenced by the presence of inaccuracies contained in webpages when deciding which sources to trust. Forty-eight 8- to 10-year-olds viewed three pairs of webpages, relating to the same topics, where one webpage per pair contained three obvious inaccuracies (factual, typographical, or exaggerations, according to condition).
