The rejection of forward jets originating from additional proton-proton interactions (pile-up) is crucial for a variety of physics analyses at the LHC, including Standard Model measurements and searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. The identification of such jets is challenging due to the lack of track and vertex information in the pseudorapidity range . This paper presents a novel strategy for forward pile-up jet tagging that exploits jet shapes and topological jet correlations in pile-up interactions.

This paper presents single lepton and dilepton kinematic distributions measured in dileptonic events produced in 20.2 of  TeV collisions recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. Both absolute and normalised differential cross-sections are measured, using events with an opposite-charge pair and one or two -tagged jets.

Observables sensitive to the anomalous production of events containing hadronic jets and missing momentum in the plane transverse to the proton beams at the Large Hadron Collider are presented. The observables are defined as a ratio of cross sections, for events containing jets and large missing transverse momentum to events containing jets and a pair of charged leptons from the decay of a boson. This definition minimises experimental and theoretical systematic uncertainties in the measurements.

The results of a search for direct pair production of top squarks in events with two opposite-charge leptons (electrons or muons) are reported, using of integrated luminosity from proton-proton collisions at TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. To cover a range of mass differences between the top squark and lighter supersymmetric particles, four possible decay modes of the top squark are targeted with dedicated selections: the decay into a -quark and the lightest chargino with , the decay into an on-shell top quark and the lightest neutralino, the three-body decay and the four-body decay . No significant excess of events is observed above the Standard Model background for any selection, and limits on top squarks are set as a function of the and masses.

The distributions of transverse momentum and longitudinal momentum fraction of charged particles in jets are measured in Pb+Pb and collisions with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The distributions are measured as a function of jet transverse momentum and rapidity. The analysis utilises an integrated luminosity of 0.

A search for the decays of the Higgs and Z bosons to a ϕ meson and a photon is performed with a pp collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.7  fb^{-1} collected at sqrt[s]=13  TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. No significant excess of events is observed above the background, and 95% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions of the Higgs and Z boson decays to ϕγ of 1.

Acrofacial dysostosis syndrome of Rodriguez is characterized by severe mandibular underdevelopment, upper limb phocomelia with absent fingers, absent fibulae, cleft palate, microtia, and abnormal pulmonary function. First reported in three siblings it was assumed to be an autosomal recessive condition. However, subsequent publication reported a further five simplex occurrences and a living patient with a heterozygous mutation in the SF3B4 gene.

Objective: To investigate whether implementation of a celiac disease (CD)-specific health-related quality of life (HRQOL) questionnaire would add value to CD follow-up visits; we compared patients' self-reported CD-specific HRQOL with the physician's report provided during a regular CD follow-up visit in children and young adults.

Methods: A cross-sectional study in the control group of a study on self-management in CD (CoelKids). Eligible patients had CD for ≥1 year and were 25 years or younger.

Purpose: In vivo evaluation of scoliosis treatment using a novel approach in which two posterior implants are implanted: XSLAT (eXtendable implant correcting Scoliosis in LAT bending) and XSTOR (eXtendable implant correcting Scoliosis in TORsion). The highly flexible and extendable implants use only small, but continuous lateral forces (XSLAT) and torques (XSTOR), thereby allowing growth and preventing fusion.

Methods: Since (idiopathic) scoliosis does not occur spontaneously in animals, the device was used to induce a spinal deformity rather than correct it.

This paper reports inclusive and differential measurements of the [Formula: see text] charge asymmetry [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text][Formula: see text] collisions recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Three differential measurements are performed as a function of the invariant mass, transverse momentum and longitudinal boost of the [Formula: see text] system. The [Formula: see text] pairs are selected in the single-lepton channels ( or [Formula: see text]) with at least four jets, and a likelihood fit is used to reconstruct the [Formula: see text] event kinematics.
