Objectives: We sought to compare signal changes using Ferucarbotran and gadobenate dimeglumine (Gd-BOPTA) in dynamic 3D T1-weighted (T1w) GRE imaging of the liver.

Material And Methods: Thirty patients were prospectively included in the study. All patients underwent 2 high-field magnetic resonance (MR) examinations: first with Gd-BOPTA (Gd) and then after a mean interval of 4 days with ferucarbotran (Feru).

Purpose: To assess the correlation between the pre-biopsy classification of microcalcifications and the underlying histology.

Material And Methods: Using the morphology and distribution patterns according to the Breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) lexicon, the microcalcifications of 199 lesions in 163 consecutive patients scheduled to undergo 11 G vacuum core biopsy were classified within the BI-RADS categories. The correlation between BI-RADS assessment categories 3, 4, and 5 and the final histological results was statistically evaluated with the chi2 test.

Background: In patients being considered for a microsurgical fibular transfer, thorough examination of the vascular supply to the lower leg is indisputably necessary. The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity of color-coded duplex sonography (CCDS) in the assessment of the arteries of the lower leg.

Patients And Methods: In 13 patients needing bony reconstruction of the jaw 22 legs were examined using CCDS.

The objective of this study is to compare image quality and lesion detection for full field digital mammography (FFDM) and film-screen mammography (FSM). In 200 women we performed digital mammography of one breast and film-screen mammography of the other breast. Imaging parameters were set automatically.

Purpose: We sought to evaluate the growth-modulating potential of paclitaxel on cultured human arterial smooth muscle cells depending on the administered dose.

Material And Methods: For all experiments human arterial smooth muscle cells (SMCs) were used. SMCs were either cultured for 5 days or for 20 days with paclitaxel (doses: 10(-7) M, 10(-8) M, 10(-9) M).

Purpose: To evaluate the radiopacity of endovascular stents based on the fluoroscopy mode in a phantom of the human pelvis.

Materials And Methods: The following stents were included in this study: Medtronic AVE Bridge, Medtronic AVE Bridge X, Cordis Covered Nitinol (Covent), Guidant Dynalink, Luminexx, Guidant Megalink, Memotherm Flexx, Palmaz Medium, Palmaz-Schatz Long-Medium, Palmaz Corinthian PQ394Q and PQ294Q, SelfX, SMART without markers, SMART with radiopaque markers, Easy Wallstent. To evaluate radiopacity, images of the stents placed in four different positions (lumbosacral junction left and right, iliosacral joint left and right) of a pelvic phantom were taken at the following modes: spotfilm, continuous fluoroscopy, 15 pulses per second, 7.

Purpose: To perform a statistical evaluation of microcalcifications (MC) from suspicious breast lesions detected by radiography and histopathology.

Materials And Methods: Histological and radiological detection of calcifications were compared from 116 biopsies in 96 women. Lesions with identical description of calcifications detected in histopathology and radiography were considered concordant, patients with obvious discrepancies discordant.

Purpose: To evaluate success, histologic accuracy, patient acceptance and BI-RADS TM-correlated malignancy rate of stereotactic vacuum-assisted breast biopsies in order to optimize the indication.

Materials And Methods: In 132 patients with mammographically detected breast lesions 166 stereotactic vacuum- assisted 11 gauge core biopsies were performed. All lesions were classified according to the BI-RADS TM categories of the ACR.

Rationale And Objective: To evaluate the potential of targeted electrical impedance scanning (EIS) for classifying suspicious breast lesions.

Methods: EIS was performed in full knowledge of mammographic findings and findings of clinical breast examination. One hundred seventeen patients with a total of 129 breast lesions were examined with EIS before breast biopsy (surgical excision or vacuum core biopsy).

Purpose: To quantify therapy related effects after breast conservation therapy (BCT) with dynamic MRI of the breast.

Methods: Twenty patients (median age 51 years) with breast conserving tumor excision were included. Contrast enhanced dynamic MRI was performed before and 3, 6 and 12 months after adjuvant radiation therapy (RT) with a total dose of 50.
