Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of BTBD7_hsa_circ_0000563, a circular RNA located on chromosome 14, in relation to atherosclerosis and identifies proteins regulated by its expression in coronary artery segments.
  • Using RT-qPCR to measure expression levels and proteomic analysis to examine protein differences, the research found lower BTBD7_hsa_circ_0000563 levels in severely narrowed arteries and identified 49 proteins with significant expression changes correlated with its levels.
  • The findings suggest that BTBD7_hsa_circ_0000563 may play a critical role in atherosclerotic changes, prompting the need for further studies to clarify its mechanisms and functions.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the connection between two SNPs (rs4977574 and rs1333045) on chromosome 9p21.3 and coronary artery disease (CHD) in a Chinese population.
  • A total of 855 blood samples were analyzed using case-control methodology, revealing significant differences in allele frequencies between CHD patients and controls.
  • Results suggest that the G allele of rs4977574 increases CHD risk, while the T allele of rs1333045 may lower it, with variations in serum apolipoprotein A levels linked to specific genotypes.

To explore the association between methylation of antisense non-coding RNA in the INK4 locus (ANRIL) and coronary artery disease (CAD) development. Methylation levels of ANRIL in 100 subjects with CAD and 100 controls were quantitatively analyzed using Sequenom MassARRAY. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis was used to identify novel pathways.

This case-control study explored the relationship between SNPs in miR-221 and self-reported essential hypertension, as well as interactions between genetic and environmental factors, in a multiethnic Chinese cohort. A MassArray analysis was performed to genotype 462 patients with essential hypertension and 442 healthy participants. The association between four SNPs in miR-221 and essential hypertension risk was determined by investigating the differences in allelic and genotypic frequencies between case and control groups using PLINK version 1.

Background: Recently, very low concentrations of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT), below the 99th percentile, have been used to immediately exclude acute myocardial infarction in certain patients without taking their age and sex into consideration.

Results: The hs-cTnT values below the 99th percentile (≤ 14 ng/L) were higher in men ( = 0.000) and significantly increased with age ( = 0.
