Article Synopsis
  • Radiation-induced xerostomia (RIX) is a severe side effect for head and neck cancer patients, leading to the need for effective management strategies.
  • A systematic review was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture in treating RIX, involving searches across six databases and analyzing eight clinical trials with 1273 participants.
  • The findings showed that while acupuncture improved patient-reported xerostomia scores compared to standard care, it did not significantly outperform sham acupuncture or enhance salivary flow rates, and no serious adverse effects were noted.

The macroscopic characteristics of the fractured space and the microscopic pore features are critical factors determining the effectiveness of gangue slurry backfilling. To identify the key areas for slurry backfilling, a combination of theoretical analysis, simulation experiments, and on-site industrial trials was used to reveal the movement laws of backfilling space overlying the fractured zone. The distribution characteristics of voids available for slurry backfilling within the fractured space were explored, and the interaction between gangue slurry and goaf voids was clarified.

Based on the greening and low interference disposal requirements of coal gangue in high-yield and high-efficiency mines in Inner Mongolia and Shaanxi, and by integrating the existing theories and technologies such as underground filling technology of coal gangue, mine yellow mud grouting technology, and the evolution law of mining overburden fractures, a technology of filling goaf with coal gangue slurry for green disposal of coal gangue is proposed. The principle and technical framework of the technology of filling goaf with coal gangue slurry are clarified. This paper expounds on the technological process of technology of filling goaf with coal gangue slurry, establishes three types of slurry filling systems, such as centralized ground layout, ground and underground coordinated layout, and centralized underground layout, and constructs three slurry filling methods, including low-level grouting, adjacent level grouting, and high-level grouting, forming seven kinds of technology models of filling goaf with coal gangue slurry, including ground centralized pulping + high-level grouting, ground centralized pulping + adjacent grouting, ground centralized pulping + low level grouting, ground and underground coordinated pulping + adjacent grouting, ground and underground coordinated pulping + low level grouting, underground centralized pulping + adjacent grouting, and underground centralized pulping + low level grouting, and gives the selection process of technology models of filling goaf with coal gangue slurry.

Background: The knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of Chinese patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) on AR is poorly known. This study investigated the KAP towards AR in patients with this disease and explored the factors associated with KAP.

Methods: This cross-sectional study enrolled patients with AR in Zhangjiagang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between October 2022 and March 2023.

The filtration effect significantly affects the gangue slurry velocity and concentration, making it difficult to evaluate the gangue slurry diffusion range. Based on the Darcy seepage law, a seepage theoretical calculation model is established considering the filtration time and space effect. And the "water-cement ratio change matrix" in the seepage process of coal gangue slurry is deduced, revealing the basic mechanism of the porous media filtration effect, and the water-cement ratio gradually increases in the seepage process of gangue slurry.

This study investigates the fractal characteristics of the particle size and shape distribution of gangue powder in the "jaw crushing-ball milling" process using mudstone gangue. For this, fractal theory, laser particle size analyzer, scanning electron microscope and other mesoscopic research methods were introduced. This study has several main factors, including the discharge port width in the jaw crushing stage, the grinding particle size, ball-to-powder ratio in the ball milling stage, and the fractal dimension changes of the gangue in different crushing stages.

The fusion of X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) and visible near infrared spectroscopy (visNIR) has been widely used in geological exploration. The outer product analysis (OPA) has a good effect in the fusion. The dimension of the spectral matrix obtained by OPA is large, and the Competitive Adaptive Reweighted Sampling (CARS) cannot cover the whole spectrum.

To quantify the diffusion range of slurry in grouting engineering, an active heating optical fiber (AHFO) monitoring method is proposed. The AHFO is arranged on the coal seam floor. The temperature is taken as the monitoring parameter to monitor the diffusion range and state of slurry in the injected medium.

Objective: To study the dynamic changes and clinical significance of serum S100B protein and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in patients with delayed encephalopathy after acute carbon monoxide poisoning (DEACMP).

Methods: This study was conducted among DEACMP patients who were hospitalized from November 2014 to February 2016. Serum levels of S100B and GFAP in 66 DEACMP patients were measured by ELISA.

This study aimed to explore crucial genes, transcription factors (TFs), and microRNAs (miRNAs) associated with the effects of curcumin against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We downloaded data (GSE59713) from Gene Expression Omnibus to analyze differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between curcumin-treated and untreated HCC cell lines. Then, we identified the disease ontology (DO) and functional enrichment analysis of these DEGs and analyzed their protein-protein interactions (PPIs).

Background: Lung cancer is the most common tumor, and has the highest incidence and mortality rates among all malignant tumors. Since stromal cell derived factor-1 (SDF-1) and CXC chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) are specific to binding sites, they are more important than other members of the families for tumor invasion and metastasis. We herein aimed to investigate the role of the axis of chemokine SDF-1 and its receptor CXCR4 in the invasion and metastasis of lung cancer.
