Biomass, as the most abundant and sustainable resource on the earth, has been regarded as an ideal carbon source to prepare various carbon materials. However, manufacturing shape-memory carbon aerogels with excellent compressibility and elasticity from biomass remains an open challenge. Herein, a cellulose-derived carbon aerogel with an anisotropic architecture is fabricated with the assistance of graphene oxide (GO) through a directional freeze-drying process and carbonization.

Polymeric nano-carriers are considered as promising tools in biomedical applications due to multiple attractive characteristics including their low toxicity, high loading capacity, controlled drug release capabilities, and highly tunable chemical properties. Here, a series of pH-sensitive star-shaped copolymers, Ad-P[(EMA--MAA)--PPEGMA], was prepared via electron transfer atom radical polymerization (ARGETE ATRP) and selective hydrolysis. These star-shaped copolymers can be self-assembled into micelles ( = 150-160 nm) and their critical micelle concentrations (CMC) were estimated to be 3.

Microporous organic polymers and related porous materials have been applied in a wide range of practical applications such as adsorption, catalysis, adsorption, and sensing fields. However, some limitations, like wide pore size distribution, may limit their further applications, especially for adsorption. Here, micro- and ultra-microporous frameworks (HBPBA-D and TBBPA-D) were designed and synthesized via Sonogashira⁻Hagihara coupling of six/eight-arm bromophenyl adamantane-based "knots" and alkynes-type "rod" monomers.

Gelsemine is an important toxic substance extracted from , which has a lot of biological functions in cells and organisms, but its toxicity has been rarely reported in . In this study, we used the protozoan as an experimental model to investigate the potential toxicity-induced mechanism of gelsemine in the unicellular eukaryote. Our results clearly showed gelsemine inhibited growth in a dose-dependent manner.

Relationships of two species of Channa argus (northern snakeheads) named "Bicolor type" and "White type", as well as other six Channa species were investigated based on their partial sequence of mitochondrial DNA 16S rRNA genes in the present study. For the Channa family, the average genetic distance was 0.0863 with the inter-species genetic distance ranged from 0.
