This paper describes the development of a portable neutron-gamma detector for environmental radiation monitoring based on the CLYC crystal. It can function as a gamma spectrometer, gamma dosimeter, and thermal neutron counter. The upper measurement limit of gamma dose rate is approximately 6 mSv/h by using the proposed current mode in CLYC crystal and PMT.

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy differences between different needling methods for dry eye syndrome.

Methods: Sixty patients of dry eye syndrome were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 30 cases (60 eyes) in each group. Shangjingming (Extra), Xiajingming (Extra), Tongziliao (GB 1), Cuanzhu (BL 2), Fengchi (GB 20), Hegu (LI 4), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Taixi (KI 3) and Taichong (LR 3) were selected in the two groups.

Based on data from the air quality monitoring stations in the Pearl River Delta during the 2015 Spring Festival, the regional air quality was investigated and the impact of burning fireworks on urban air quality was assessed. The results showed that: Zhaoqing was the worst polluted city in PM₁₀, PM₂.₅, SO₂ and CO in terms of concentrations in the region during the period, Huizhou was the worst polluted city in O₃ and Guangzhou was the most polluted city in NO₂ at the same time.

The method of Monte Carlo simulation is a powerful tool to investigate the details of radiation biological damage at the molecular level. In this paper, a Monte Carlo code called NASIC (Nanodosimetry Monte Carlo Simulation Code) was developed. It includes physical module, pre-chemical module, chemical module, geometric module and DNA damage module.

With the rapidly growing number of CT examinations, the consequential radiation risk has aroused more and more attention. The average dose in each organ during CT scans can only be obtained by using Monte Carlo simulation with computational phantoms. Since children tend to have higher radiation sensitivity than adults, the radiation dose of pediatric CT examinations requires special attention and needs to be assessed accurately.

Daily (24-h average) PM2.5 samples were collected simultaneously at urban and suburban sites of nine cities (Nanning, Qinzhou, Fangchenggang, Beihai, Zhanjiang, Maoming, Haikou, Yangpu and Dongfang) in Beibu Gulf Zone during August 2009. All samples were analyzed for organic and elemental carbon (OC and EC) analyses by the thermal/optical reflectance following IMPROVE protocol.

In Monte Carlo simulation of DNA damage, the geometric model of DNA is of great importance. To study the influence of DNA model on the simulation of DNA damage, three DNA models were utilised in this paper. They were a volume model and two atomic models with different parameters.
