This study presents a longitudinal analysis of external quality assessment (EQA) results for erythropoietin (EPO) determinations conducted between 2017 and 2022 with a continuously increasing number of participating laboratories. The endangered population of humpback whales () breeding and calving off the Cape Verde Islands (CVI) are known to migrate to feeding areas located along the eastern margin of the North Atlantic Ocean (Iceland, and Norway). Here, we report for the first time a confirmed migration of an individual humpback whale from CVI breeding ground to a western North Atlantic feeding ground of West Greenland. This individual humpback, which was photographed and identified off the coast of West Greenland in 2021, was previously documented in CVI 22 years before (1999).

MRI-guided neuro interventions require rapid, accurate, and reproducible segmentation of anatomical brain structures for identification of targets during surgical procedures and post-surgical evaluation of intervention efficiency. Segmentation algorithms must be validated and cleared for clinical use. This work introduces a methodology for shape-constrained deformable brain segmentation, describes the quantitative validation used for its clinical clearance, and presents a comparison with manual expert segmentation and FreeSurfer, an open source software for neuroimaging data analysis.

Efficient energy transport over long distances is essential for optoelectronic and light-harvesting devices. Although self-assembled nanofibers of organic molecules are shown to exhibit long exciton diffusion lengths, alignment of these nanofibers into films with large, organized domains with similar properties remains a challenge. Here, it is shown how the functionalization of C -symmetric carbonyl-bridged triarylamine trisamide (CBT) with oligodimethylsiloxane (oDMS) side chains of discrete length leads to fully covered surfaces with aligned domains up to 125 × 70 µm in which long-range exciton transport takes place.
