Introduction: Mediastinal and hilar lymphadenopathies are primarily diagnosed pathologically. Contact laser-assisted endobronchial ultrasound-guided tunnel drilling biopsy (EBUS-TDB), which uses a laser as a tunneling and incision tool, may yield more satisfactory specimens than conventional endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA), thereby improving the diagnostic yield. This study aims to evaluate the diagnostic value and safety of contact laser-assisted EBUS-TDB compared to EBUS-TBNA in the assessment of mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is caused by aberrant repair because of alveolar epithelial injury and can only be effectively treated with several compounds. Several metabolism-related biomolecular processes were found to be involved in IPF. We aimed to identify IPF subtypes based on metabolism-related pathways and explore potential drugs for each subtype.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a chronic, progressive lung disease characterized by interstitial remodeling and tissue destruction, affects people worldwide and places a great burden on society. Cellular senescence is thought to be involved in the mechanisms and development of IPF. The aim of this study was to predictively investigate subtypes of IPF according to cellular senescence-related genes and their correlation with the outcome of patients with IPF, providing possible treatment and management options for disease control.

Article Synopsis
  • Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) is hard to diagnose early, especially in both immunocompromised and non-immunocompromised patients, and current methods like metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) face challenges in standard clinical interpretation.
  • The study reviewed patients with confirmed pulmonary infections and found that certain factors, like immunocompromised status and the presence of a halo sign on CT scans, significantly improved the accuracy of IPA diagnosis from mNGS results.
  • Results showed a much higher accuracy rate for diagnosing IPA in immunocompromised patients compared to non-immunocompromised ones, highlighting the need for caution when interpreting mNGS data in the latter group.
