G protein-coupled receptor, class C, group 5, member D (GPRC5D) has emerged as a novel target for chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, demonstrating promising efficacy in multiple myeloma (MM). However, disease relapse is still common, and the mechanism of resistance remains poorly understood. In this study, we conducted whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and whole-genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) on MM samples from 10 patients who relapsed after GPRC5D CAR T-cell therapy.

Design strategies for chiral iridium(III) complexes with stable circularly polarized luminescent properties have emerged as important research topics in the field of organic photonics. Given the high rigidity, low chemical activity and multi-closed-loop structure of -camphor, its chirality cannot be easily affected. Furthermore, the introduction of indolo[3,2,1-]carbazole is beneficial for the narrow emission spectrum.

Shaking and standing (SS) enhances the aroma intensity and quality of black tea (BT). However, its contribution to the taste remains unknown, and the interaction mechanism between the aroma and taste perception of black tea is also undisclosed. Here, the metabolomics and sensory evaluation-assisted flavor analysis were employed to investigate the changes in non-volatiles induced by SS, and the interaction mechanism between aroma and taste perception.

Efficient methods and universal DNA elements are eagerly required for the expression of proteins and the production of target chemicals in synthetic biology and metabolic engineering. This paper develops a customized-design approach by utilizing the host-independent T7 expression system (HITES), which facilitates the rational design and rapid construction of T7 expression systems. Firstly, the EL (Upper-limit value of initial enzyme activity) value is discovered to play a pivotal factor in the successful construction of the T7 expression system, different host strains exhibit varying EL values, and this study presents a method to measure the EL values.

Life is a dynamic and systematic whole, with organs interacting with each other. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) discusses the interaction between human tissue and organs through the Zangfu relations, while modern biological medicine clarifies physiological and pathological relationships through "organ crosstalk". From the perspective of "organ crosstalk", this article discussed the five classical Zangfu relations(lungs and large intestine, heart and small intestine, spleen and stomach, liver and gallbladder, and kidney and bladder) in TCM and their extension.

Background: Telocytes, recently recognized as interstitial cells with a diverse range of potential functions, have attracted considerable attention for their involvement in tumorigenesis. Nevertheless, owing to certain challenges in the isolation and cultivation of telocytes, the research on telocytes has advanced rather slowly. Therefore, it is imperative to study the role and mechanisms of telocytes in tumors.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on sequencing the complete mitochondrial genome of Oncomelania hupensis robertsoni, the sole intermediate host for Schistosoma japonicum in southwestern China, to understand its genetic variation.
  • A total of 26 mitochondrial sequences were obtained, with genomes ranging from 15,181 to 15,187 base pairs and including 37 genes (13 protein-coding, 2 rRNA, and 22 tRNA).
  • Findings revealed the presence of different strains of Oncomelania hupensis robertsoni, specifically the Yunnan and Sichuan strains, with the Yunnan strain further divided into northern and southern sub-branches, highlighting significant genetic differentiation in the species.

Epithelial splicing regulatory protein 2 (ESRP2),an important alternative splicing protein of mRNA, is reported to have a dual role in tumors, which can promote or inhibit the occurrence and development of tumors. However, the function and mechanism of ESRP2 in breast cancer (BC) remain unclear. The distribution of ESRP2 expression in breast cancer and the correlation between ESRP2 expression and the overall survival rate were detected by The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) presents challenges in detecting somatic mutations due to its complex cellular composition. This study investigated the utility of patient-derived organoids (PDOs) to overcome these obstacles and enhance somatic mutation identification. Surgically resected PDAC tumors and their paired PDOs from 21 patients were examined.

Integrated power dividers (PDs) are essential in terahertz (THz) communication and radar systems, but miniaturization often leads to performance degradation due to fabrication inaccuracies and sharp bends. Topological photonics offers a solution to these issues, yet creating THz power dividers with arbitrary splitting ratios remains challenging. We present a design methodology for on-chip topological THz power dividers with customizable splitting ratios using valley-locked photonic crystals.

The aim of this review was to delve into the extent of mosquito virome coverage (proportion of viral reads) via meta-viromic sequencing and uncover potential factors of heterogeneity that could impact this coverage. Data sources were PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, Science-Direct, Google Scholar, and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure. Pooled coverage was estimated using random-effects modeling, and subgroup analyses further reveal potential heterogeneous factors.

The presence of minute quantities of water in organic solvents can affect the progress of many reactions and cause unnecessary losses and even safety accidents in the chemical industry, especially in the productions process of organic fine chemicals. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out high-performance strategies for trace water detections in commonly used organic solvents. In this work, a fluorescent sensing system based on competitive binding of protons has been developed, demonstrating remarkable responses by UV-vis absorption and fluorescence two-modes toward a trace amount of water in organic solvents including 1,4-dioxane (Diox), tetrahydrofuran (THF), acetonitrile (MeCN), acetone (ACE), dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and mixed organic solvents (THF: MeCN=1: 1).
