Background: Fuzheng Yiliu decoction (FZYLD), a Chinese formula consisting of four herbs, can be clinically used as an adjuvant therapy after surgery or palliative treatment for advanced liver cancer.

Methods: This study identified the endogenous and exogenous metabolites of FZYLD in rat serum to characterize the underlying mechanism of its antitumor activity, as well as relieving cancer-related weakness. An orthotopic transplantation rat model of HepG2 cells was established and administered with FZYLD by gastric perfusion for 14 days.

This study aimed to investigate the polysaccharides (PF40) physicochemical and antidiabetic characteristics. The ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectra, Fourier transform infrared radiation (FT-IR) spectra, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra, zeta potential, surface characteristics, and conformational and thermal stability properties of PF40 were characterized. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), combined with Congo red test, revealed that PF40 powder has mainly existed in amorphous form with triple-helix conformation.

Polysaccharides are abundant in natural resources and perform numerous physiological functions. Polysaccharide structures often lack chromophore groups; thus, current analytical methods cannot distinguish polysaccharide metabolites in the body or polysaccharide prototypes in biological samples. Thus, the measurement of polysaccharides in blood, bodily fluid, and cell-culture medium is difficult.

Stroke is a disease of the leading causes of mortality and disability across the world, but the benefits of drugs curative effects look less compelling, intracellular calcium overload is considered to be a key pathologic factor for ischemic stroke. Gualou Guizhi decoction (GLGZD), a classical Chinese medicine compound prescription, it has been used to human clinical therapy of sequela of cerebral ischemia stroke for 10 years. This work investigated the GLGZD improved prescription against intracellular calcium overload could decreased the concentration of [Ca] in cortex and striatum neurone of MCAO rats.

The semi-refined polysaccharide of Pseudostellaria heterophylla is a complex polysaccharide that exhibits significantly hypoglycemic activities. A novel homogeneous polysaccharide, named as H-1-2, was isolated from the semi-refined polysaccharide. The mean molecular weight of H-1-2 was 1.

The complexity of traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) is related to their multi-component system. TCM aqueous decoction is a common clinical oral formulation. Between molecules in solution, there exist intermolecular strong interactions to form chemical bonds or weak non-bonding interactions such as hydrogen bonds and Van der Waals forces, which hold molecules together to form "molecular aggregates".

The multi-component system of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is very complicated. The clusters are dynamic aggregates whose molecules are held together by hydrogen-bonded, Van der Waals forces or the opposite charges of particles attract each other. In this paper, field emission scanning electron microscopy proved that molecules form clusters in Pueraria thomsonii Benth (Fenge) water decoction.

A traditional Chinese medicine formula (Fuzheng Yiliu decoction; FZYLD) has been used for many years in clinical settings to cure liver tumors; however, no empirical research has reported its chemical composition. In this paper, 21 chief constituents were distinguished from FZYLD using high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry fingerprint analysis. Molecular docking studies for B-cell lymphoma-extra large (Bcl-XL), interleukin (IL)-2, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were bound to evaluate their anticancer activities.

Background: The aims of this study were to evaluate the antidiabetic activity and to detect molecular size of Pseudostellaria heterophylla polysaccharide (PHP). Pseudostellaria heterophylla is a medicine extensively used in traditional Chinese medicine formulas to treat diabetes and its complications.

Methods: Molecular weight of PHP was determined by gel permeation chromatography combined with phenol-sulphuric acid method and the monosaccharides composition was determined by HPLC with a precolumn derivatization.

With an internal transcribed spacer of 18 S, 5.8 S and 26 S nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA ITS) as DNA marker, we report a colorimetric approach for authentication of Pseudostellaria heterophylla (PH) and its counterfeit species based on the differentiation of the nrDNA ITS sequence. The assay possesses an unlabelled G-quadruplex DNAzyme molecular beacon (MB) probe, employing complementary sequence as biorecognition element and 1:1:1:1 split G-quadruplex halves as reporter.

The purpose of this study was to prepare a propyl gallate (PrG) molecular imprinted polymer as a cartridge stuffing material to isolate antiplatelet active ingredients. A macroporous polymer was synthesized utilizing ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) as the crosslinking agent, PrG as the template molecule and 4-vinylpyridine (4-Vpy) as the functional monomer. Subsequently, PrG was removed by washing with methanol-glacial acetic acid (9:1, v/v).

Objective: Previous work has found that the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) form aggregates in the aqueous solution, and the activities of two Chinese herbal formulae against three cardiovascular targets were aggregates-related. This paper further studied the molecular morphology composed of aggregation and single active molecule in TCM.

Methods: We take Pueraria lobata (Willd.
