Article Synopsis
  • Altered skin integrity raises infection risk, leading to longer healing times due to persistent inflammation; functional artificial hydrogels are being studied as effective wound dressings.
  • This research involved attaching the antimicrobial peptide MSI-1 to chitosan-modified hydrogels mixed with Prussian blue nanoparticles, creating a hydrogel with lasting antibacterial properties against common bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
  • The hydrogel can heat up under near infrared light to prevent bacterial biofilms and has shown a high cell survival rate in co-culture studies, making it a promising option for safe and efficient wound treatment.

Wound moisture management is very important in wound healing. Previous wound management has included dry healing and moist healing, and the theory of wound moisture balance is currently generally accepted. However, current studies have not reported which humidity is suitable for wound healing and how to appropriately use antibacterial compounds when the humidity is suitable.

As an important component of crude oil, asphaltene precipitation and deposition are harmful to petroleum production and processing. In previous research, the impacts of asphaltene precipitation on crude oil characteristics were preliminarily explored. In this paper, by mixing different types of crude oil, the dynamic process of asphaltene precipitation and its effect on the crystallization and gelation behaviors of mixed crude oil were in-depth analyzed and discussed using the high-speed centrifugation technique, microscopic observation, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) thermal analysis, and rheological test.

The migration of epidermal stem cells (EpSCs) is critical for wound re-epithelization and wound healing. Recently, growth/differentiation factor-5 (GDF-5) was discovered to have multiple biological effects on wound healing; however, its role in EpSCs remains unclear. In this work, recombinant mouse GDF-5 (rmGDF-5) was found via live imaging in vitro to facilitate the migration of mouse EpSCs in a wound-scratch model.

A series of plasma characteristic spectral lines of Mg alloy were obtained under nanosecond laser shock produced by a pulsed Nd : YAG laser (1 064 nm, maximum energy 500 mJ), which was taken under standard atmospheric pressure and at room temperature. Results indicated that the evolutionary rates of spectral lines were different, and the laser energy was enough to ionization Mg alloy under this experimental condition by the spectral lines of MgⅠ, MgⅡ. The electron temperature of Mg plasma were calculated by the measured relative Emission-line intensity(MgⅠ383.
