A tandem mass tagging-labeled proteomic approach was employed to explore the relationship between quality parameters and protein changes in large yellow croaker fillets refrigerated under carbon dioxide, oxygen, and nitrogen atmospheres. After 96 h, fillets stored in carbon dioxide and nitrogen showed improved texture, water-holding capacity, and color, compared to those stored in oxygen. Functional analysis respectively identified 117 and 65 differentially expressed proteins in carbon dioxide and nitrogen, including key proteins such as troponin, myosin light chain, actin, and collagen types IV and XIII, that were linked to extracellular adhesion, cytoskeleton integrity, energy metabolism, and membrane functions.

Classical gene-by-environment interaction (GxE) analysis can be used to characterize genetic effect heterogeneity but has a high multiple testing burden in the context of genome-wide association studies (GWAS). We adapt a colocalization method, SharePro, to account for effect heterogeneity in fine-mapping and identify candidates for GxE analysis with reduced multiple testing burden. SharePro demonstrates improved power for both fine-mapping and GxE analysis compared to existing methods as well as well-controlled false type I error in simulations.

Membrane-based micro-solid phase extraction (M-μSPE) has garnered great attention in sample pretreatment, suffering an inherent contradiction between permeability and adsorption capacity. In this study, a pure microporous organic network (TEB-DIB-MON) fiber membrane was prepared by combining electrostatic spinning technology, Sonogashira-Hagihara reaction and template sacrifice method. The prepared TEB-DIB-MON membrane exhibited a large specific surface area with a hollow and porous structure, thereby providing excellent solvent permeability and high adsorption capacity for okadaic acid (OA, an algal toxin).

Design and preparation of fiber coatings with excellent electrochemical performance and high polarity is significant for efficient extraction of polar targets in electro-enhanced solid-phase microextraction (EE-SPME). In this work, a combination strategy for structure regulation of covalent organic framework (COF) was proposed to fabricate a nitrogen-rich thiocarbamide linked COF coating (Thiocarbamide-TZ-DHTP) via molecular design and post-synthetic thiocarbamide conversion. The prepared COF coating possesses a large number of O, N, and S functional groups, which not only endow the coating with higher polarity but also significantly enhance its electrochemical performance.

Algal toxins are secondary metabolites produced by harmful algae; these metabolites are characterized with strong toxicity, diverse structure and bioaccumulation. Aquatic organisms that feed on harmful algae can accumulate algal toxins in their bodies, and the consumption of these organisms by humans can cause symptoms of paralysis, diarrhea, and even death.
