Photodynamic therapy (PDT) holds an essential role in the therapy of tumors. However, PDT consumes tissue oxygen and diminishes its own efficacy by inducing tumor hypoxia through the HIF-1α/VEGF pathway. Therefore, overcoming the photodynamic exacerbation of tumor hypoxia could reverse tumor microenvironment and enhance PDT.

Zhimu-Huangbai (ZH) herb-pair is a traditional Chinese medicine that regulates glucose and lipid metabolism disorders. However, the precise mechanisms underlying the preventive effects of hepatic triglyceride induced by high-fat diet (HFD) remain elusive.

However, whether natural nanoparticles can influence the oral bioavailability of active compounds has not been elucidated. Using Xie-Bai-San decoction (XBSD) as an example, the purpose of this study was to isolate, characterize and elucidate the mechanism of the nanoparticles (N-XBSD) in XBSD, and further to explore whether the bioavailability of the main active compounds could be enhanced by N-XBSD.

Besides, this very method was methodologically validated for specificity, linearity, inter-day and intra-day precision, accuracy, matrix effect, extraction recovery, and stability. It was also successfully used for the first time to compare the pharmacokinetic characteristics of the seven components after oral administration of LGZGD to normal rats and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) rats.

Environmental stresses induce the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that eventually hinder plant growth and development. The CAT enzyme translates the hydrogen peroxide (HO) to water (HO) and reduce the ROS levels to shelter the cells' death.
