Iron and steel production (ISP) is one of significant atmospheric pollution emission sources in China. With the implementation of ultra-low emission (ULE) standards, a detailed and new updated emission inventory is urgently needed for better understanding of the temporal trends and spatial variation of emission characteristics. In this study, a unit-based comprehensive emission inventory of multiple hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) for the Chinese ISP spanned from 2012 to 2021, including the conventional pollutants, 13 kinds of Trace elements as well as 2 unconventional but toxic pollutants (PCDD/Fs, F), was dedicatedly developed by integrating dynamic localized emission factors with unit-based information of both the detailed activity level and abatement technology application.

The structural characteristics of electrode materials play a crucial role in their potential applications. Therefore, designing the material's structure rationally is one of the most effective methods to achieve high-performance electrodes. In this study, V-ZnCoO nanowires were synthesized on nickel foam using a simple hydrothermal method, and the prepared V-ZnCoO-2 electrode material exhibited a specific capacitance of 1621 C g.

Up to 17 GPa, the crystalline phases of N2 are characterized by pronounced orientational disorder, whereas the higher-pressure phases of molecular N2 are ordered. This raises the question about long-term relaxation of orientational disorder within the low- to intermediate-pressure regime. Here, this question is addressed by comparing synthetic with natural, chemically pure, solid N2 that resides as inclusions in diamonds at 300 K for about 108 years at pressures up to 11 GPa.

Vaccination is the most effective measure for reducing and preventing influenza and related complications. In this study, we analyzed the mutation trend and the antigen dominant site changes of the amino acid sequence of hemagglutinin subunit 1 (HA1) of human influenza A virus (IAV) in the northern hemisphere from 2012 to 2022. According to the HA1 sequences of A/Darwin/6/2021 (H3N2) and A/Wisconsin/588/2019 (H1N1) recommended by the World Health Organization in the 2022 influenza season in northern hemisphere, we employed the mosaic algorithm to design three Mosaic-HA1 antigens through stepwise substitution.

The 1957 H2N2 influenza pandemic virus [A(H2N2)pdm1957] has disappeared from humans since 1968, while H2N2 avian influenza viruses (AIVs) are still circulating in birds. It is necessary to reveal the recurrence risk and potential cross-species infection of these AIVs from avian to mammals. We find that H2 AIVs circulating in domestic poultry in China have genetic and antigenic differences compared to the A(H2N2)pdm1957.

A strain of the bacterial genus , IMAU50987, that was isolated from black comb honey from Lianghe County, Dehong Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China, could not be accurately identified as a known species using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. In this study, the taxonomic status of strain IMAU50987 was evaluated using whole-genome sequencing combined with phenotypic analyses. Strain IMAU50987 was Gram-positive, non-motile and non-spore-forming.

The BiSe family can exhibit many intriguing topological insulator properties, including a narrow bandgap and strong surface states, which show excellent nonlinear optical properties. Thinning bulk BiSe family materials to create a low-cost photoelectric modulation device and explaining the mechanisms of nonlinear optical differences in different types of materials remain challenges. Based on liquid-phase exfoliation technology and tapered fiber, this work prepared optoelectronic modulation devices for various samples within the BiSe family, quantitatively compared their nonlinear optical properties, and analyzed the sources of differentiation using the occupied and unoccupied multiband structure theory.

Introduction: Since 2016, a highly lethal visceral gout induced by infection with the novel goose astrovirus (GoAstV) resulted in an ongoing outbreak in goslings in China, with a mortality rate ranging from 10% to 50%, and causing considerable economic losses in the goose industry. However, the pathogenesis of GoAstV and the molecular mechanism by which kidney lesions are induced by GoAstV infection are unclear.

Methods: In the present study, a GEK cell infection model for GoAstV was established, and the apoptosis, inflammatory and innate immune responses induced by GoAstV were investigated in GEK cells.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an aggressive cancer with complex issues of drug resistance and a poor prognosis; thus, effective therapeutics is urgently needed for AML. In this study, we designed and synthesized dual cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors, IMC-HA and IMC-OPD, and applied them for the treatment of AML. IMC-HA comprised a COX-2 inhibitor skeleton of indomethacin (IMC) and an HDAC inhibitor moiety of the hydroxamic group and was found to exhibit potent antiproliferative activity against AML cells (THP-1 and U937) and low cytotoxicity toward normal cells.

Objective: To explore the clinical application value of the Bleeding Scoring Scales (2019 Pediatric ITP Scale) in the diagnosis and treatment of children with primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).

Methods: A total of 422 children with ITP were evaluated with the 2019 Pediatric ITP Scale and the 2013 ITP-BAT and their clinical data were analyzed. The correlation between the two bleeding scoring scales and disease stage, platelet count was analysed, the evaluation time, consistency of the two bleeding scoring scales was compared, and the correlation of the two methods.

Background: Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE) II instrument have been widely used by scholars around the world to assess the methodological quality of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs). We sought to identify items or domains that are commonly scored low in the assessment, and to systematically review the issues that emerged when evaluators used the AGREE II tool for guideline quality assessment.

Methods: A systematic search was conducted to identify articles published in medically relevant databases from 2022 to 2023 regarding the use of the AGREE II tool for the assessment of CPGs.

Article Synopsis
  • - HfZrO (HZO) is gaining popularity for its strong ferroelectric properties, small size (less than 10 nm), and compatibility with CMOS technology, which is essential for modern electronics.
  • - Traditional HZO films require improvements to meet demands for reduced thermal budget and lower power use, leading to the introduction of a middle layer (ML) strategy to enhance features like ferroelectricity and control the wake-up effect in ferroelectric capacitors.
  • - The study found that using a ZrO middle layer led to impressive results, achieving a high remnant polarization and very low wake-up ratios, while also confirming the capacitor's reliability over millions of cycles.

Fruit aroma is an important organoleptic quality, which influences consumer preference and market competitiveness. Aroma compound synthesis pathways in plants have been widely identified, among the lipoxygenase pathway is crucial for fatty acid catabolism to form esters in apple. However, the regulatory mechanism of this pathway remains elusive.

  • The study investigates the effectiveness of the modified furosemide responsiveness index (mFRI) as a biomarker for predicting the progression of acute kidney injury (AKI) and adverse outcomes in patients who experienced mild to moderate AKI after cardiac surgery.
  • It compared mFRI with other renal biomarkers and cytokines, finding that mFRI performed equally or better in predicting AKI progression and other serious outcomes like hospital mortality and renal replacement therapy (RRT).
  • The research suggests that using a combination of mFRI and urinary injury biomarkers improves the prediction of adverse renal outcomes more effectively than using either biomarker alone.

Background: Women with pre-existing cardiac conditions who undergo assisted reproductive technologies (ART) are believed to be at a heightened risk of cardiovascular events during both the treatment and pregnancy phases. An unresolved question within this context pertains to whether the ART procedure itself constitutes a risk factor for individuals with bioprosthetic heart valves (BHV). Additionally, there is ongoing controversy regarding whether pregnancies expedite the process of structural valve degeneration (SVD) in BHV.
