Background: Periodontitis (PD) is a chronic infectious and inflammatory disease characterized by alveolar bone loss. The distinctive activity of immune cells critically exacerbates bone resorption in PD. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are known to contribute to various chronic inflammatory conditions, but their role in the pathogenesis and progression of PD remains poorly understood.

Objective: Individual differences challenge the treatment of vancomycin, linezolid and voriconazole in severe infections. This study aimed to build a simple and economical method for simultaneous determination of the three antibiotics in human plasma by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) and provided a reference for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of infected patients.

Methods: The plasma samples were precipitated by acetonitrile and detected and separated on a shim-pack GIST C18 column following the gradient elution within 5 min.

Anlotinib and osimertinib are a class of tyrosine kinase inhibitors for the treatment of malignant tumor. The combination of anlotinib and osimertinib is currently used for treating non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. This study aimed to develop a simple and rapid isotope-labeled UHPLC-MS/MS method for the simultaneous determination of anlotinib and osimertinib in human plasma.

Background: Romiplostim and eltrombopag are thrombopoietin receptor agonists (TPORAs) that have been approved by the FDA on 22 August 2008 and 20 November 2008 for pediatric immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). However, postmarketing pharmacovigilance of TPORAs in children still attracts much attention. We aimed to evaluate the safety of the TPORAs romiplostim and eltrombopag using data from the Adverse Event Reporting System database of FDA (FAERS).

DNA damage repair (DDR) is essential for maintaining genome integrity and modulating cancer risk, progression, and therapeutic response. DDR defects are common among non-small lung cancer (NSCLC), resulting in new challenge and promise for NSCLC treatment. Thus, a thorough understanding of the molecular characteristics of DDR in NSCLC is helpful for NSCLC treatment and management.

This study aims to assess the color stability, water sorption, and solubility of 11 resin composites as commercially available dental products. Twenty samples (10 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness) of each material were fabricated using a customized silicone mold, followed by immersion in each of curry, coffee, wine, and distilled water for 28 days (n = 5). Baseline shade and color changes (ΔE) were measured using a reflection spectrophotometer.

The rapid emergence of multidrug-resistant/extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) is responsible for treatment failure in patients with TB and significantly endangers global public health. Recently, bioenergetics has become a new paradigm for anti-TB drug discovery and is based on the link between bacterial ATP levels and drug efficacy. A better understanding of the role of ATP fluctuations during antibiotic treatment may provide insight into antibiotic-mediated killing of mycobacteria.

Article Synopsis
  • Clostridioides difficile poses a significant health threat in hospitals due to its ability to cause severe diarrhea, with a high carriage rate of 19.4% observed among patients in a study involving 894 fecal samples.
  • The genomic analysis revealed a diverse population structure with 36 distinct strains, where a notable 64.8% of isolates were toxigenic, and over half were multidrug-resistant.
  • The study highlights the role of asymptomatic carriers in the spread of C. difficile, suggesting the need for routine screening upon hospital admission to improve surveillance and prevention strategies.

Most randomized trials for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) have investigated highly selected patients under idealized conditions, and the findings need to be validated in the real world. We conducted a population-based study of all APL patients in Zhejiang Province, China, with a total population of 82 million people, to assess the generalization of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and arsenic as front-line treatment. The outcomes of APL patients were also analyzed.

Background: Congenital anatomic abnormalities of fallopian tubes and ovaries are rarely reported. Herein, we describe four cases of undescended ovary during laparoscopic surgery with abnormal anatomy of fallopian tube, yet without abnormal uterine development and urinary system abnormalities, which are analyzed by their clinical features and effects on reproductive function.

Case Presentation: For the patients with undescended ovary, the location of unilateral or bilateral upper poles of the ovaries were usually much higher than that of the bifurcation of the common iliac vessel, and the fallopian tubes at the same side opened in the para-colonic sulcus.

Under acidic conditions, aluminum (Al) toxicity is an important factor limiting plant productivity; however, the application of phosphorus (P) might alleviate the toxic effects of Al. In this study, seedlings of two vegetatively propagated Eucalyptus clones, E. grandis × E.

The sequence-defined polycationic polymers with or without Cys-Arg-Cys motifs conjugated with targeting and shielding segments were synthesized as siRNA carriers via native chemical ligation (NCL) reaction. After purification, the structures and physicochemical characteristics were determined by a variety of experimental techniques. The particle size of siRNA/CRC-polymer polyplex was much smaller than that of polyplex without CRC motifs.
