Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the link between periodontitis (gum disease) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common type of liver cancer, highlighting how periodontitis may worsen HCC prognosis.
  • - Researchers analyzed datasets to identify differentially expressed lncRNAs, miRNAs, and mRNAs, constructing a ceRNA network that connects periodontitis to HCC and shows involvement in immune response and liver function.
  • - The study identifies three mRNAs—MSH2, GRAMD1C, and CTHRC1—as potential biomarkers for HCC prognosis, suggesting periodontitis influences HCC through immune, inflammatory, and metabolic pathways.

Periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease characterized by the destruction of connective tissue and alveolar bone that eventually leads to tooth loss. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent regulated cell death and is involved in ligature-induced periodontitis in vivo. Studies have demonstrated that curcumin has a potential therapeutic effect on periodontitis, but the mechanism is still unclear.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Bufei huoxue (BFHX) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine formulation that consists of Astragalus Exscapus L, Paeonia Lactiflora Pall, and Psoralea Aphylla L. It can ameliorate collagen deposition and inhibit EMT. However, it remains unknown whether and how BFHX alleviates IPF.

As the main bioactive substance of , polysaccharide (GLP) has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and other biological activities. Studies have shown that GLP can regulate the expression of multiple inflammatory cytokines in different inflammatory models and diseases as part of the anti-infection immune response. We extracted crude Changbai Mountain polysaccharides (CGLPs), analyzed their physical and chemical properties, and then applied them to the periodontitis model to verify whether they have an inhibitory effect on mouse periodontitis.

Background: To evaluate whether oral lichen planus (OLP) is a risk factor for peri-implant diseases (PIDs) with a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Methods: Five electronic databases including Medline, Embase, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library and Scopus were searched. The included studies are observational human studies written in English.
