A longitudinal study of the health and wellbeing of culturally and linguistically diverse caregivers of people with psychosis in Australia.

Background: Despite Australia being an ethnically diverse country, there are limited longitudinal studies of the health and wellbeing of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) carers of people with psychosis. An Australian population-based survey found that 22.7% of carers of people with mental disorders were born overseas.

Effectiveness of assertive community management in Singapore.

Introduction: Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) was introduced in the 1970s as a comprehensive and assertive approach to community-based case management of patients with chronic and serious mental illness. Launched in Singapore in 2003, the Assertive Community Management (ACM) was modelled after the ACT, but with the main difference of 24 hour availability for the latter only. In line with the move towards de-institutionalisation of psychiatric patients, ACM was introduced to provide a mobile community-based multidisciplinary team approach to manage patients with severe chronic psychiatric illness.

Experiences of Chinese migrants caring for family members with schizophrenia in Australia.

Little is known about the experience of Chinese migrants to Australia who are caring for a person with schizophrenia. The research was exploratory in nature, providing information on the health, help-seeking behaviors, burden, and caring experiences of Chinese carers of people with schizophrenia in Melbourne. Ethnic Chinese carers of people with schizophrenia were recruited.
