Aim: Transcranial ultrasonography, including transcranial doppler (TCD) and transcranial colour-coded duplex/sonography (TCCD/TCCS), offers potential benefits in the evaluation of cerebrovascular patency, but its accuracy remains under scrutiny. Hence, this study aims to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of transcranial ultrasonography for detecting stenosis in acute ischaemic stroke patients.

Material And Methods: We systematically reviewed the databases such as CINAHL, SCOPUS, EMBASE, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect from inception till June 2023.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the effectiveness of the virtual passport app in improving dementia care by connecting healthcare professionals, care sites, and caregivers.
  • Results showed substantial improvements in quality indicators and the ability to address care needs over 6 and 12 months compared to routine care.
  • The virtual passport led to reductions in the severity of neuropsychiatric symptoms but did not significantly affect caregiver burden or depression levels.

Sound ecological and environmental governance systems are critical for promoting green and low-carbon economic transformation and high-quality development. However, financing constraints are major obstacle to the revitalization and transformation of China's real economy. In this study, we constructed an environmental dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (E-DSGE) model that incorporates two types of environmental expenditure and financing constraints, and discussed their economic and environmental effects.

Purpose: This study aimed to find the caregiving burden level for patients with dementia who had multiple chronic diseases by simultaneously considering both patient and caregiver factors.

Participants And Methods: A cross-sectional study with 284 patients with dementia having multiple chronic diseases managed by the dementia collaborative care team at Changhua Christian Hospital in Taiwan was conducted. The input variables were from patients, such as age, gender, mood symptoms, and behavioral and psychological symptoms, and caregivers, including age, relation to the patient, caregiver's mood, and caregiving burden.

Background: To compare short-term cognitive outcomes among groups with and without neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPSs) or antipsychotic prescription and to determine which disease status or treatment modality is associated with relatively faster cognitive decline.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed a prospective cohort of patients diagnosed with dementia and mild cognitive impairment. All participants were evaluated using the Cognitive Abilities Screening Instrument (CASI) during their initial clinical assessments and at the annual follow-up.

Objective: To explore how prostate health index (PHI) and multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) should be used in concert to improve diagnostic capacity for clinically significant prostate cancers (CsCaP) in patients with prostate-specific antigen (PSA) between 4 and 20 ng/ml.

Methods: About 426 patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria were included in this study. Univariable and multivariable logistic analyses were performed to analyze the association between the clinical indicators and CaP/CsCaP.

To evaluate the effects of neoadjuvant vascular endothelial growth factor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (VEGF-TKI) treatment on surgery in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC), sources from Embase, PubMed and the Cochrane Library databases collected from inception to December, 2022 were used for analysis in the present study, according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Data regarding surgical outcomes were collected. The pooled effect sizes were calculated in terms of the risk ratio (RR)/standard mean difference (SMD) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) using the random-effects model.

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the influence of case management and its corresponding computer-assisted assessment system on the quality improvement of dementia care.

Methods: This observational study enrolled 2029 patients and their caregivers at Changhua Christian Hospital in Taiwan. Physicians who made the diagnosis of dementia would introduce the patient and caregiver dyad to the case manager-centered collaborative care team after obtaining agreement.

Background: With the increasing number of individuals with dementia, families have hired an increasing number of live-in migrant caregivers (LIMCs). Currently, limited evidence is available regarding the influence of long-term care resource utilization on the hiring of LIMCs for caring for individuals with dementia in Taiwan.

Methods: We recruited individuals with dementia who did not hire LIMCs and their primary family caregivers from nine hospitals in Taiwan as baseline.

Background: Optimal use of psychotropic medications for people living with dementia is important. By finding potentially modifiable factors, dementia care teams may find solutions to achieve the appropriate use of psychotropic drugs.

Objective: This study aimed to elucidate patient and caregiver factors associated with the use of psychotropic drugs listed in the potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) in community-dwelling people with dementia.

Introduction: To evaluate the predictive value of the pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV) and other systemic inflammatory markers, including the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), derived neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (dNLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), for prostate cancer (PCa) and clinically significant prostate cancer (CSPCa) in patients with a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) value between 4 and 20 ng/mL.

Patients And Methods: The clinical data of 319 eligible patients who underwent prostate biopsies in our hospital from August 2019 to June 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. CSPCa was defined as a "Gleason grade group of ≥2".

To effectively guide and stimulate the green transformation behavior of resource industries and promote the sustainable and high-quality development of the region, it is necessary to deeply analyze and clarify the barrier factors of the green transformation behavior of resource industries. This study measures the green transformation efficiency of the resource industries by selecting the panel data of the mining industry from 29 Chinese provinces, based on the DEA-SBM model, and employing the ideas and methods of system engineering, for the years 2012-2019. Hence, the study employs the Tobit model to verify the factors that hinder the green transformation behavior of the resource industries.

Background: Arterioureteral fistula (AUF) is a rare, life-threatening condition wherein communication occurs between a ureter and the common, internal, or external iliac artery. The sensitivity of common clinical imaging examination for AUF is low, which leads to a delayed diagnosis and increased mortality. In addition, the increased use of ureteral stents contributes to the growing frequency of AUF.

Nitrogen in surface sediments is becoming an ecological risk to the river environment and it is essential to clarify the relationship between the different forms of nitrogen and related microorganisms. A survey was conducted to analyze the distribution characteristics of the nitrogen and related microbial community in the sediments of the Songhua River during normal season and dry season. In the surface sediments of the Songhua River, no total nitrogen (TN) pollution risk was observed according to the U.
