Micro-tools comprising difficult-to-machine materials have seen widespread application in micro-manufacturing to satisfy the demands of micro-part processing and micro-device development. Taking micro-shafts as an example, the related developmental technology, based on wire electric discharge grinding (WEDG) as the core method, is one of the key technologies used to prepare high-precision micro-shafts. To enable efficient and high-precision machining of micro-shafts with target diameters, instead of performing multiple repeated on-machine measurements and reprocessing, a geometric constraint strategy is proposed based on the previously introduced twin-mirroring-wire tangential feed electrical discharge grinding (TMTF-WEDG).

In frequency-domain spectra, the full width at half maxima of transmitted peaks was broadened and the peak positions have a blue shift with increasing oxidation levels, besides the enhancement in peak intensity. It is indicated that the oxidation of Ni nanowires (NWs) has a significant influence on the interaction between Ni NWs and THz wave.

In this paper, magneto-rheological grease was used as the internal controllable material of the buffer to address the turbulence and settling problems of conventional magneto-rheological fluid. A bending and folding back magnetic circuit is proposed, and the magnetic circuit simulation was verified.

The effects of oxidation temperature on the morphology, microstructures, and composition of nanowires were investigated using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results show that the Ni nanowires convert initially to Ni/NiO core-shell nanowires with increasing annealing temperatures, and then to the nanotubes at the critical transition temperature of about 425 °C.

By adjusting the NW density and order of the NW arrays, the resonant frequency and intensity of the THz waves can be effectively tuned. The tuning range of the resonant frequency is about 0.

A rapid technique is necessary to quantitatively detect the density of nanowire (NW) and nanotube arrays in one-dimensional devices which have been identified as useful building blocks for nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, biomedical devices, etc. Terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy was employed in this research to detect the density of aligned Ni NW arrays. The transmitted amplitude of THz peaks and optical thickness of NW arrays was found to be the effective parameters to analyze the density change of NW arrays.

A facile and high-yield route, dropping method, has been used to synthesize Ni nanowires (NWs) with a high aspect ratio. Compared to the conventional chemical reduction method, the diameter of Ni NWs prepared by the dropping method distinctively decreased and the surface roughness was improved. After optimizing the process parameters such as the Ni ion concentration and volume of the dropped NiCl2·6H2O solution, the diameter and aspect ratio of the NWs are 70 nm and ~600, respectively.

The as-grown graphene sample was suitable for fabricating a high performance field-effect transistor (FET), followed by a far lower operation voltage compared to that of a SiO2-gated FET and carrier motilities of approximately 870-1050 cm(2)·V(-1)·s(-1) in air at rt. The directly grown high-quality graphene on STO makes it a perfect candidate for designing transfer-free, energy-saving, and batch production of FET arrays.

Under irradiation of 248 nm pulsed laser with 20 ns duration the TPV peak values can be modulated in a range of -125 to 138 mV when the applied magnetic field perpendicular to the interface changes from -6.4 to + 6.
