Orthodontic aligners: between passion and science.

Introduction: The benefits and safety of using orthodontic aligners have been reported more by clinical experience and expert opinion than by scientific evidence. Another important aspect is that aligners are constantly evolving. It is important to obtain evidence that allows for new updates in manufacturing technology, in the development of new movement planning protocols, in the incorporation and design of attachments, and in the aid of skeletal anchorage.

Loads of continuous mechanics for uprighting the second molar on the second molar and premolar.

Introduction: This paper aims to evaluate the effect of tube height on uprighting a mandibular second molar with a continuous arch, specifically the main effects on the molar tube and the side effects on the second premolar bracket.

Methods: Slot brackets (0.18-in) and tubes were passively bonded from the left second molar to the right second premolar of the patient's cast and fixed to an orthodontic force tester.

Evaluation of lower anterior dental changes in patients treated with self-ligating brackets.

The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare changes in linear distance and inclination of lower incisors and canines and intercanine distance after a 30 months orthodontic treatment with self-ligating appliances. Seven patients were treated orthodontically with a Roth prescription passive self-ligating bracket. To perform the measurements and comparisons, CBCT scans were taken before the start of the orthodontic treatment (T) and after a period of 30 months treatment (T).
