Aims: Decrease in repolarizing K+ currents, particularly the fast component of transient outward K+ current (Ito,f), prolongs action potential duration (APD) and predisposes the heart to ventricular arrhythmia during cardiac hypertrophy. Histone deacetylases (HDACs) have been suggested to participate in the development of cardiac hypertrophy, and class I HDAC inhibition has been found to attenuate pathological remodeling. This study investigated the potential therapeutic effects of HDAC2 on ventricular arrhythmia in pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy.

Photosynthesis, which is the foundation of crop growth and development, is accompanied by complex transcriptional regulatory mechanisms. Research has established that brassinosteroids (BRs) play a role in regulating plant photosynthesis, with the majority of research focusing on the physiological level and regulation of rate-limiting enzymes in the dark reactions of photosynthesis. However, studies on their effects on maize photosynthesis, specifically on light-harvesting antenna proteins, have yet to be conducted.

is a common pathogen of hematogenous lung abscesses. The increased resistance of to antibiotics makes infections difficult to treat, often resulting in a poor prognosis. Therefore, it is important to identify infections as early as possible and evaluate its sensitivity and resistance to antibiotics, to formulate an appropriate treatment plan.

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted to investigate the ecological effects of different concentrations of traditional microplastics (polystyrene) and biodegradable microplastics (polylactic acid) in soil over 60 days, focusing on microbial activity and carbon metabolism.
  • Results showed that microplastics decreased soil pH and increased dissolved organic carbon, with polylactic acid significantly enhancing urease activity while polystyrene did not.
  • Higher concentrations of both types of microplastics inhibited microbial carbon metabolism, with polylactic acid having a more significant negative impact than polystyrene due to its tendency to degrade into harmful substances.

High frequency and large bandwidth are growing trends in communication radio-frequency devices. The LiNbO thin film material is expected to become the preferred piezoelectric material for high coupling resonators in the 5G frequency band due to its ultra-high piezoelectric coefficient and low loss characteristics. The main mode of laterally excited bulk acoustic wave resonators (XBAR) have an ultra-high sound velocity, which enables high-frequency applications.

For patients with resectable locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), the current standard treatment is neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) plus radical surgery. This study aimed to establish a predictive model, based on computed tomography (CT) radiomics features and clinical parameters, to predict sensitivity to nCRT in patients with ESCC pre-treatment. The goal was to provide risk stratification and decision-making recommendations for clinical treatments and offer more valuable information for developing personalized therapies.

Microfluidic technology has emerged as a prevalent tool to produce lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for nucleic acid delivery. However, its wide-ranging application is hindered by specialized, costly equipment and consumables. Herein, a ready-to-use lipid nanoparticle (RULNP) technology employing deep eutectic solvents (DESs) was developed.

Electronic waste dismantling has induced the surrounding agricultural soils suffered from combined contamination of heavy metals and organic pollutants. Lower efficiency and complex mechanisms of bioremediation remain to be resolved. Here, we adopted regulations to Sedum plumbizincicola cross aboveground and belowground scales to strengthen the bioremediation efficiency.

Background And Objective: Given the high heterogeneity and clinical diversity of cancer, substantial variations exist in multi-omics data and clinical features across different cancer subtypes.

Methods: We propose a model, named DEDUCE, based on a symmetric multi-head attention encoders (SMAE), for unsupervised contrastive learning to analyze multi-omics cancer data, with the aim of identifying and characterizing cancer subtypes. This model adopts a unsupervised SMAE that can deeply extract contextual features and long-range dependencies from multi-omics data, thereby mitigating the impact of noise.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels (AS), a medicinal plant renowned for its constipation-relieving properties, lacks comprehensive studies on its active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and underlying mechanisms. In the gastrointestinal tract, TRP channels enhance colonic mucus secretion, expedite intestinal motility, and regulate gastrointestinal hormones; however, few reports have systematically established the relationship between TRPs and ligustilide (Lig), a key API of AS.

Understanding the harmful effects of microplastics (MPs) and their derivatives is a priority in environmental study. However, the characteristics and toxic effects of leachates from MPs at the molecular-level remain unclear. Herein, two conventional commercial MPs [polystyrene (PS) and polyethylene (PE)] and two biodegradable commercial MPs [polylactic acid (PLA) and polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalate/PLA (PBAT/PLA)] were subjected to leaching under ultraviolet-irradiation, and their leachates were investigated.

Super-resolution fluorescence imaging of live cells increasingly demands fluorescent probes capable of multi-color and long-term dynamic imaging. Understanding the mechanisms of probe-target recognition is essential for the engineered development of such probes. In this study, it is discovered that the molecular lipid solubility parameter, Clog P, determines the staining performance of fluorescent dyes on lipid droplets (LDs).

Article Synopsis
  • Kids with dyslexia (DD) have trouble seeing things clearly in the center of their vision (foveal crowding), not just on the edges like we thought.
  • We tested kids with dyslexia, ADHD, and kids without these conditions using special reading tests and found that those with dyslexia struggled more with reading speed and clarity.
  • The results showed that the more crowding in their vision, the worse they did in reading and other skills, suggesting foveal crowding could help diagnose dyslexia early.

The presence of abnormally oriented grains (AOGs) in sputter-deposited aluminum scandium nitride (AlScN) films significantly degrades their physical properties, compromising the performance of bulk acoustic wave (BAW) devices. This study utilizes first-principles calculations to reveal that in tetrahedral wurtzite AlScN film-doped Sc atoms tend to aggregate at the second nearest-neighbor positions, forming dense ScN octahedral structures. The rock-salt (RS) ScN continued to grow due to further Sc aggregation.

The first-order antisymmetric (A1) mode lamb wave resonator (LWR) based on Z-cut LiNbO thin films has attracted significant attention and is widely believed to be a candidate for next-generation reconfigurable filters with high frequency and large bandwidth (BW). However, it is challenging for traditional interdigitated electrodes (IDTs) based LWR filters to meet the requirement of a clean frequency spectrum response and enough out-of-band (OoB) rejection. To solve the problem, we propose LWRs with checker-shaped IDTs for the design of filters that meet the Wi-Fi 6E standard.

The KCNE2 protein is encoded by the gene and is a member of the KCNE protein family, also known as the MinK-related protein 1 (MiRP1). It is mostly present in the epicardium of the heart and gastric mucosa, and it is also found in the thyroid, pancreatic islets, liver and lung, among other locations, to a lesser extent. It is involved in numerous physiological processes because of its ubiquitous expression and partnering promiscuity, including the modulation of voltage-dependent potassium and calcium channels involved in cardiac action potential repolarization, and regulation of secretory processes in multiple epithelia, such as gastric acid secretion, thyroid hormone synthesis, generation and secretion of cerebrospinal fluid.
