Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have attracted much attention for decades as they are the precursors of photochemical smog and are harmful to the environment and human health. Vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photodegradation is a simple and effective method to decompose VOCs (ranging from tens to hundreds of ppmV) without additional oxidants or catalysts in the air at atmospheric pressure. In this paper, we review the research progress of VOCs removal via VUV photodegradation.

Plant-associated nitrogen-fixing microorganisms (diazotrophs) are essential to host nutrient acquisition, productivity and health, but how host growth affects the succession characteristics of crop diazotrophic communities is still poorly understood. Here, Illumina sequencing of DNA- and RNA-derived genes was employed to investigate the dynamics of total and active diazotrophic communities across rhizosphere soil and rice roots under four fertilization regimes during three growth periods (tillering, heading and mature stages) of rice in 2015 and 2016. Our results indicated that 71.

Neonicotinoid insecticides (NNIs) are the most popular insecticides worldwide, yet their spatiotemporal distribution and fates during the urban water cycle remain limited on a large watershed scale. Thus, we investigated ten kinds of NNIs in surface water from the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and hubs of the urban water cycle in all seasons. In brief, eight out of ten NNIs were detected, and thiamethoxam (THM), imidacloprid (IMI), and dinotefuran (DNT) were the most abundant NNIs in surface water, with concentrations of 0.

PD-L1 tumor-derived extracellular vesicles (TEVs) cause systemic immunosuppression and possibly resistance to anti-PD-L1 antibody (αPD-L1) blockade. However, whether and how PD-L1 TEVs mediate αPD-L1 therapy resistance is unknown. Here, we show that PD-L1 TEVs substantially decoy αPD-L1 and that TEV-bound αPD-L1 is more rapidly cleared by macrophages, causing insufficient blockade of tumor PD-L1 and subsequent αPD-L1 therapy resistance.

The existence of Lactobacillus-led colonized bacteria in the endometrium of a healthy human has been reported in recent studies. Unlike the composition of the microbiome in the lower genital tract, that in the endometrium is different and closely associated with the physiological and pathological processes of gynecological diseases. For example, changing the immune microenvironment affects the receptivity of the endometrium, thereby leading to abnormal reproductive outcomes, such as embryo implantation failure and recurrent spontaneous abortion.

Organic-inorganic metal halide perovskite films have emerged as potential candidate materials for photoelectric devices because of their superior optoelectronic properties. The performance of these devices depends on the quality of perovskite films defined by their grain size, crystallinity, and absence of pinholes. While solution-based processing is the most cost-effective and scalable approach to producing these films, the impact of the process parameters on the film quality and nanoscale details of these processes are unknown.

High-speed trajectory tracking with real-time processing capability is particularly important in the fields of pilotless automobiles, guidance systems, robotics, and filmmaking. The conventional optical approach to high-speed trajectory tracking involves charge coupled device (CCD) or complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors, which suffer from trade-offs between resolution and framerates, complexity of the system, and enormous data-analysis processes. Here, a high-speed trajectory tracking system is designed by using a time-division position-sensitive detector (TD-PSD) based on a graphene-silicon Schottky heterojunction.
