Objectives: To observe the effects of acupoint application with turmeric blistering moxibustion plaster on pain, shoulder range of motion (ROM) and upper limb motor function in the patients with post-stroke hemiplegic shoulder pain (PSHSP).

Methods: Eighty-two patients with PSHSP were randomly divided into an observation group (41 cases, 1 case was eliminated, 4 cases dropped out) and a control group (41 cases, 2 cases were eliminated and 2 cases dropped out). Enamelin (ENAM) has three putative phosphoserines (pSers) phosphorylated by a Golgi-associated secretory pathway kinase (FAM20C) based on their distinctive Ser-x-Glu (S-x-E) motifs. Fam20C-knockout mice show severe enamel defects similar to those in the Enam-knockout mice, implying an important role of the pSers in ENAM. To determine the role of pSer in ENAM, we characterized ENAM mice, in which Ser cannot be phosphorylated by FAM20C due to an E>G mutation in the S-x-E motif.

A new C(18)-diterpenoid alkaloid, kirinenine A (1), was isolated from the root of Aconitum kirinense, along with eight known diterpenoid alkaloids. The structures of all compounds were characterized on the basis of extensive NMR and MS analyses and by comparison with literature values, and the new one was further confirmed by X-ray crystallographic diffraction. Objective: To establish a sensitive and direct method for detecting the activation of protein kinase C (PKC) using fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) technique.

Methods: HEK293 cells were transfected with C kinase activity reporter (CKAR) plasmid or/and parathyroid receptor 1 plasmid , and after incubation for 72 h, the fluorescence resonance energy transfer was measured with or without parathyroid or TPA stimulation.

Results: TPA reduced the efficiency of FRET and increased the emission ratio of CFP/YFP (C/Y) in HEK293 cells transfected with CKAR.

For a quick and noninvasive examination of the tongue for potential hepatitis patients, a study was conducted on the relation between the reflectivity of near infrared spectrum on the tongues of the healthy people and the hepatitis patients. Spectral data, 25 items for each case, are to be collected from the left and right side tongue, left and right sublingual venae, and tip of the tongue from the healthy people and the hepatitis patients. Then a three-layer neural network structure was established with all the data input after normalization reflectivity pretreatment.
