Introduction: Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection is prevalent worldwide and contributes to various gastrointestinal diseases. Eradication therapy is crucial in managing HP infection, but antibiotic resistance has led to refractory cases, complicating treatment outcomes and increasing the risk of adverse events.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary approach, termed HP Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Clinic, in improving eradication rates and safety in patients with refractory HP infection.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising catalysts for the electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction (OER) due to their high surface area, tunable pore structures, and abundant active sites. Ligand engineering is an important strategy to optimize their performance. Here, we report the synthesis of NiFe-MOFs based on three different ligands: 1,4-terephthalic acid (BDC), 2,4-thiophene dicarboxylic acid (TDC), and 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDC), to investigate the effects of heteroatom-based aromatic rings on OER performance.

Background: Leigh syndrome is a common mitochondrial disorder caused by gene mutations in the nucleus and mitochondria. When building mitochondrial complex I, the main subunit ND1 combines with the Q module to form a 273 kDa complex, which then adds Ndufa3, Ndufa8, and Ndufa13 to create an intermediate product of about 283 kDa called Q/Pp-a. Although Ndufa8 and Ndufa13 have been linked to mitochondrial diseases, the role of Ndufa3 in disease development is still not fully understood.

Lignin has a natural polyphenol structure that is expected to replace chemically synthesized antioxidants as a native antioxidant with biodegradable and convenient source characteristics. However, the improvement of the antioxidant property of lignin and its application as an antioxidant are still somewhat limited due to the lack of understanding of the relationship between specific lignin structures and antioxidant property. Therefore, the study of the relationship between lignin structure and antioxidant property is crucial to realize the high-quality application of lignin.

Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial infections are becoming a life-threatening issue in public health; therefore, it is urgent to develop novel antibacterial agents for treating infections caused by MDR bacteria. The 20(S)-protopanaxadiol (PPD) derivative 9 was identified as a novel antibacterial hit compound in screening of our small synthetic natural product-like (NPL) library. A series of novel PPD derivatives with heterocyclic rings fused at the C-2 and C-3 positions of the A-ring were synthesized and their antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus (S.

The upregulation of methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) has been associated with the progression of esophageal cancer. However, METTL3-induced N-methyladenosine (mA) alterations on the downstream target mRNAs in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) are not yet fully understood. Our study revealed that silencing METTL3 resulted in a significant decrease in ESCC cell proliferation and metastasis in vitro and in vivo.

Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is the second most frequent of the keratinocyte-derived malignancies with actinic keratosis (AK) as a precancerous lesion. To comprehensively delineate the underlying mechanisms for the whole progression from normal skin to AK to invasive cSCC, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to acquire the transcriptomes of 138,982 cells from 13 samples of six patients including AK, squamous cell carcinoma in situ (SCCIS), cSCC, and their matched normal tissues, covering comprehensive clinical courses of cSCC. We identified diverse cell types, including important subtypes with different gene expression profiles and functions in major keratinocytes.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate three-dimensional (3D) negative-contrast CT cholangiopancreatography (nCTCP) image quality using dual-energy CT (DECT) with iterative reconstruction (IR) technique in patients with pancreatobiliary dilatation compared with single-energy CT (SECT).

Methods: Of the patients, 67 and 56 underwent conventional SECT (SECT set) and DECT with IR technique (DECT set), respectively. All patients were retrospectively analyzed during the portal phase to compare objective image quality and other data including patient demographics, hepatic and pancreatic parenchymal enhancement, noise, and attenuation difference (AD) between dilated ducts and enhanced hepatic parenchyma, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), and CT volume dose index (CTDI).

Background: To investigate the deformity and asymmetry of the shoulder and pelvis in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients.

Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study enrolled 223 AIS patients with a right thoracic curve or left thoracolumbar/lumbar curve who underwent spine radiographs at the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University between November 2020 and December 2021. The following parameters were measured: Cobb angle, clavicular angle, glenoid obliquity angle, acromioclavicular joint deviation, femoral neck-shaft projection angle, iliac obliquity angle, acetabular obliquity angle, coronal trunk deviation distance, and spinal deformity deviation distance.

Background: It is difficult to differentiate giant cell tumors of the bone (GCTB) from chondroblastoma around the knee based on imaging findings. This study analyzed the imaging features of these 2 diseases for better differentiation.

Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional cohort study reviewed data of patients with pathologically confirmed GCTB (n=81; age 15-75 years; median age 33 years) and chondroblastoma (n=18; age 12-34 years; median age 14 years).

The purpose of this article is to describe a novel technique of multiphase fusion three-dimensional (3D) images in patients with malignant pancreatobiliary obstruction. Multiphase fusion 3D images of CT arteriography, portovenography and hepatic venography combined with negative-contrast CT cholangiopancreatography can be done with enhanced multiphase CT scan using intravenous contrast agent at once. This technique may be feasible for one-stop evaluation of malignant pancreatobiliary obstruction.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the connection between trunk balance, head posture, and plantar pressure in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), focusing on imaging data from 80 patients.
  • It finds that a significant percentage of AIS patients experience trunk imbalance, particularly in the coronal plane, with a notable tilt to the left.
  • Results indicate that trunk imbalance is associated with greater head offsets, larger center of pressure sway areas, and reduced stability while standing.

With the rapid development of the global economy, the depletion of fossil fuels and the intensification of environmental pollution, there is an increasingly urgent need for new and green electrochemical energy storage technologies in society. In this thesis, ligninsulfonate/polyaniline nanocomposites were synthesized by chemical oxidation using aniline as the monomer, lignin as the template and dopant, and ammonium persulfate as the oxidant. The results showed that the average diameter of the ligninsulfonate/polyaniline nanocomposite was 85 nm, and the composite electrode exhibited good electron conduction ability and excellent capacitive performance by ligninsulfonate doping.

Introduction: Surgery for patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) may change spinal sagittal alignment, and postoperative adding-on may affect spinal sagittal balance after reconstruction. This study was to investigate the effect of surgery on spinal sagittal alignment and the relationship between postoperative adding-on and spinal sagittal balance in patients with AIS.

Hypothesis: The hypothesis of this study was that the effect of surgery on AIS was associated with recovery of the spinal sagittal plane and that presence of postoperative adding-on might affect the spinal sagittal balance.
